Anyone on here drove both and able to give a good review on them ?. Is there a big advantage to either ? See mixed opinions online and haven't been able to get a drive in both yet myself to see what the storey is :grinning:.

S-tronic = dsg, multitronic = cvt box. Haven't heard much about the cvt box.

Yea the majority of the cars for
sale seem to come with the multitronic box, drove an s tronic q5 the other day and the gearbox was grand. Multironic seems to get mixed reviews online.

CVT gearboxes aren't for everybody, I personally don't like the way they drive. Test drive one as you may like it.

Ensure both boxes have had documented oil/filter changes every ~39k

I've read online thru gave very little feel of gear change? A disconnected feeling regarding revs and speed? . I will get a drive in one soon just interested to hear what owners have thought :grinning:

Mate in work has a b8 A4 with Multitronic, it decided it didn't want to be a gearbox any longer and promptly **** itself. No one wanted to work on it and he ended up getting it lifted to a gearbox specialist up about Coleraine. Final bill? £3.5k.
Look up the issues the Yanks have with them and the class action they started with Audi.

Cheers guys , Is the s tronic box reliable enough ?

I'm on my second Audi with an S-tronic gearbox, both cars have been mine from new and I have never had any issues. I did 30k in the first car and my current car has just over 9k on it, like someone else said they need serviced around 39k.

What year was the coupe? What you think of it? Real world mpg as well? It's on my short list at present :grinning:

It was a 2013 model, the Quattro and S-tronic really hurt the mpg and for a 2.0 TDI it wasn't good. It averaged around 36-38 mpg during my 2 and half years of ownership.

Having said that I really liked the car, it wasn't what you would call exciting to drive but it was a nice cruiser. I did quite a few tours in it and always got out of driving it fresh, you really could do big miles in it without it draining you.

Thanks for that, would you say the 36-38mpg was mixed driving mainly? My commute each day is now 46 miles all round so mpg is something I need to consider now unfortunately :worried:.

Just beware a 2wd A5 is not s-tronic only 4wd.

I commute about the same as you each day, about 23 miles each way. Roads are a mix of dual carriageway and A roads and the usual mix of start/stop driving you get during rush hour.
