Finally got round to fitting my centre console which has been sitting in my garage/attic for the last 2 years.

Looking back, I’ve had so many opportunities to fit this but just never bothered. Anyway...

Thought I’d take the seats out and clean out underneath. This would also give me more room to work, they are some weight!

All put back together with new facelift console with illuminated cup holders

And all put back together :grinning: the cigarette lighter was an absolute nightmare as it needs a specific VAG tool but got there in the end!

Unfortunately the plug sent was the wrong size for the cup holder lights so will need to get the right one ordered up.

Seats can wait until tomorrow! Couple other things to do while at home over next few weeks so watch this space.
Two carbon backed recaro,s would be nice .Just saying like .🤷‍♂️

Sparco Sprints are only 7kg and are around 200 new, be a good job for the drag runs. Not comfortable at all though.

Great work, and love the leather knee pads on the sides of the centre console. Where did you get them?

The illuminated cup holders make a big difference at night time....nice touch.

BKS Tuning I think - need to find out what plug I need to order then get it wired in.

Thanks

Yea I see they sell them OK. You don’t happen to know the Audi part number for it?

4 hex bolts
Cables are beneath the carpet so just have to remove a plastic plug to open a small carpet hatch
The loom plugs into green, black (might be brown), red and yellow sockets so to speak - all press the tab and pull except the yellow where you lift a black tab

Easy job.

Does the airlight bag not come on the dash or anything after unplugging? Just curious

Maybe once he has all the other jobs done :joy: , previous owner had a wee fluff ball dog so I reckon it's a good idea.

there is a fault up in the dash But I hope that will clear once I take it for a drive but I haven’t as yet.

Noticed a chip out of my splitter - must have happened last Monday or Tuesday when the car was last out :worried:

Off now to go get repaired, sprayed and PPF’d - always regretted slightly not getting a gloss black splitter as I thought the Matt finish would match the grill inserts better.

Did you disconnect the battery before unplugging the airbag sensor from the seat? I did this on my 530 when I removed the seat and that prevented any fault codes lighting up.

Maybe only a bmw thing, but I changed the gasket on the coolant temperature sensor one time. I unplugged the sensor without disconnecting the battery and it registered a code in the ecu.

After that, I disconnect the battery any time I unplug anything and it hasn’t brought up a code.

Lovely S3 by the way :grinning:

Busy day between this and watching every move of my son but got there in the end.

As most know, VAGs are atrocious for hub rust. This will be the 3rd time doing them but hey ho, lets go.

Jacked up

Arches are stinking!

Brushed most of the dried dirt and stuff away but decided in the end to take them out completely as it would be a lot easier and better access to the car bodywork - 5/6 torq screws.

Dosed the arches in Articulate then fallout then I found an old bottle of Autosmart Tardis which melted through the tar like butter. Forgot how good this stuff was!!

I am assuming this is wax from factory?!! Some one know? Anyway, it’s off now. Soaked it in tar/glue remover and gave off easily.

Gave the hubs a rub down, blow down and wipe before applying paint. Also touched up the lower arms.

Going to leave it over night and fit the wheels tomorrow. Gave them a proper decontamination and sealing.

Fronts to start after!
