Rare for me to like stickers on a car, but for some reason fancied a sunstrip, Perks of the Job i mocked this up Matt Black Sunstrip with Audi Sport logo overlayed in Gloss black, Not 100% sure on it atm but will do for a while.
48051716357_1614040270_b.jpg

Also the car was treated to a full machine polish and Ceramic coating, seeing as it never got much attention since Dubshed last year, and since the front end was painted in August it needed a bit of correction, Also Fitted up some new Hankook Tyres up front (rears will be replaced soon to match)

Last minute i applied for a show in England, and got accepted, so booked the boat and made the trip across to Gateshead Stadium for Kulturschock Show at the weekend with a few friends.

Thankfully no issues with the car over the weekend, other than the Indicator relay taking fits, with the indicators not working at times, though new hazzard switch orderd this evening from Audi (relays are built into the switch housing), But really enjoyed getting the TT out and used, and Enjoyed around some of the roads across Scotland and england en route to Newcastle.

With being fairly happy with the interior and exterior currently, i decided to turn my eye to the engine bay and give it a make over as well as a few maintance jobs that i could do while i was there.

First up Fuel Filter, Apparently a non service item from Audi, and the date stamp on the filter matching build dates of the car 16 years fitted to the car is bound to be a bit clogged.
48301742596_106c044e7b_c.jpg

Couldnt resist cutting it open to see inside....yeah rightly dirty.
48301858607_1132c10eb8_c.jpg

While doing an oil and filter change i removed the steel undertay, and the scuffs, dents and various damage on it, it has definatly earned its worth! the quite sharp dents on the left had side of the pic, is exactly were the sump rests, and if it wasnt for the undertray id have been changing the sump!...again!!
48301742901_c19b33dfaa_c.jpg

While the under tray was off i made a sticker up for it, i do 90% of my own work but have a mechanic i use regularly if its above my skilll level or time scale and i thought if hes working on it any time soon im sure he'd see the funny side, and possibly the mot guys.
48301742146_6ef43ec3bb_c.jpg

Picked up a Badger5 V2.2 Intake with billet adapter, for those not in the 1.8 tuning scene is probably one of the top intakes on the market currently
48301859147_4074f19906_c.jpg

Also fitted a Forge Cold Side Relocation kit for the Diverter valve.

Nice sparkley black Rocker Cover
48301858347_180f7f1d48_c.jpg

Old Gasket was allowing weaping due to the age which was one of the maintance jobs on the list, and why i turned to engine mods for now. very brittle and hard broke off in 2 pieces
48301742696_a947307a5c_c.jpg

Relocated the N249 valve and its mess of wires and pipes that sits on top of the rocker cover, many people deleted them and for a while was the "done thing" but latest coments around the forums are if its not working get rid its not worth fixing, but if it works keep it, so traced back the loom and relocated it under the mainfold.
48301743021_97117b402d_b.jpg

While i was at it relocated the Injector wiring loom to give it a smoother look, cleans the bay up so much more from above to below.
48301742831_4d7d89f007_b.jpg

And now for a completed before and after pic
Engine bay before
32674168877_9bd8d52865_b.jpg

Engine bay After
48301884526_4330ac300b_b.jpg

Forge Cold Side Relocation Kit,
Badger5 V2.2 Intake Pipe
N249 Valve relocation
Injector Loom Relocation
Polished up fuel Rail
Painted Rocker Cover & New Gasket
Coil Pack wiring conduet from 2.0 tfsi modified to fit in red
Polished Coil Pack heat sheild.

So much happer with the engine bay now, will be changing the charge pipe in future to a different one to clean it up some more removeing blocked off hoses which are no longer needed due to the cold side relocation. Had thought about smoothing, and tucking more of the bay, power steering pump, coolant tank, carbon canisters etc but then reliability and practicality start going down then, checking/topping up fluids etc turns into an hour job rather than 2 mins etc. but then again who knows what i might end up doing in future lol

Then last weekend took the car to Old School New School Show in Longford, Great weekend, great weather and some fun driving down and back.

Few minor mods to sort over the next week or two ahead of another trip to England next weekend with the TT, also booked in September to head to Scotland with it aswell! Rightly getting the car out more often and enjoying it after spending the time and money building it.

Mate and I were drooling over this at OSNS, some example for any 1.8t owner!
Do you notice any difference in temps/performance with the DV relocation?
Was also abit stumped at the washer fill location, didn't know it was there on a MK1 T such an odd place ^o)

That's Stunning, hopefully get to see it someday

Cheers mate. If your on Facebook check out the Audi TT Northern Ireland group, may also help with your search for parts, and advice if you need it. We have cars and coffee meets in Sprucefield as well as other various meets across the year, All TTs welcome standard or modified.

Cheers! the engine bay seemed to get alot of attention at the show, a few times id sat in the car for a bit i looked up and was a few different people looking round the bay at various times over the show. Im pretty happy with how the engine bay is looking sort of subtle but alot of changes if you know what your looking at.

Ive noticed a massive difference in power, and pick up etc but how much of that if any of that is linked to the dv relocation im not sure as all the mods in the last post was done all at the same time, other than starting it after each one making sure it started and ran before turning it off and doing the next one, though im sure it does help as various ones on the owners forums have tried and tested it and recommended it.

Yeah when i first got the car took me a while to find the washer fill at first, the OEM filler cap is blue normally which would make it stand out a bit more, though i replaced it with a black one to make it less noticeable lol.

Wonder was the mess of standard vacuum pipes around the N249 valve and also the TIP causing minor boost issues? It's something I always meant to get around to on the old red Skoda but never did.

Yeah they are prone to issues but i still have all those vacuum pipes and N249 valve fitted, just been relocated under the inlet manifold so still as oem just with the dv hose changed for a longer one apart from its oem just different location. Though I did have a slight tear in the oem tip were one of the pipes coming off so lost air there which would have lost power, though the oversized tip from Badger5 I fitted have had alot of people saying the pickup and power difference from it alone is crazy, more airflow = more power.. Not to mention the sounds  wishing I had done it sooner lol

Return boat after the show on Sunday after a 4 hour drive.
48475409476_794aa27db5_c.jpg

While in the unit while waiting on stuff, i decided to dig out my old 3 piece Braid wheels, from way back. I always said when i had them on the TT, it really needed to be aired out sitting on the ground and them tucked in the arch....
48475553552_497edeca94_c.jpg

I do like them, but dont worry before the hate starts. the OZs were put back on after the photo was taken, I may in the future refurb them and fit them to the car for the odd show now and again just to change it up but never will be a full time wheel. But shows how big the arches are on the TT, 19x9 wide up front, and 19x9.5 rears and tucks them all round with room to spare and still lays frame up front.

I always fancied Tan leather, and anyone that may have seen my sample collection from various leather suppliers/trimmers ive ALOT of Tans, Oranges, and browns, looking for that right shade i was after, though was always slightly afraid of it not working, and opting for safer route the silver/grey leather like my standard seats, but deep down i wanted to try tan.........so i finally bit the bullet and........

48475553482_b8d1c384a1_c.jpg

Over the moon with the seats Tan Leather with Baseball Mitt Stitching. I also have the gear knob trimmed in tan, Handbrake, and also the interior grab handles (the same ones i trimed with black perforated leather the other month, but yet to fit the tan ones due to running out of time due to wheels4kris show at the weekend) Few other interior ideas planed and ideas to try but happy with the way its turning out.

Attended Wheels4kris show on Sunday

Really pleased with how the car is going atm driving and mod wise, and also the "finished" spec isnt looking too far away now. hoping to have a few more parts in this week, ideally fitting them this week before SoLow show this weekend but we shall see. Another Trip booked in September to Scotland for Cleanfest show in Edinburgh, had also been looking at going a few more across the water but have decided to hold off till next year and concentrate on a few more mods over winter.

I actually prefer the Braid wheels, I think they suit the show car look better.

those seats are lush.... bold and brave choice, but brilliant, takes the car to the next level imo. I like the older wheels too, maybe refurb them and go mega polished or something as a different look for some shows?

Really like this 😁 and I'm not overly fussed on "stance" but what you've done suits the car very well!!

Seats are probably too different, but they are cool as fook! And that paint looks fantastic 😍 I had mine painted and have already noticed one or two stone chips 😭

What do you use for your front number plate to be able to remove and re apply it so easily?

Cheers yeah the amazing what a heavy dose of lowering can do with a set of wheels.

I couldnt believe how much better they looked now than they did when i first put them on. Yeah im over the moon with the seats

Awesome man! Congrats on the prize! Love the new seats too 😁
Thanks mate, couldnt believe Car of the show!

Yeah the seats were a bold choice but i think it works. pics dont do them justice, and its hard to get a good pic showing off the cars paint, and the true colour of the seat with out it looking too orange or too brown. Yeah im tempted to get them refurbed up and run them a show or two for a change, think they might be too far gone for a full polish face but will see what happens and what i come up with when i get time, might as well do something with them cause due to the rarity of them (apparently they are a complete one off wheel) i dont really want to sell them, to then see them on a car at a show and regret selling them, and i dont see me buying another mk4/5x100 car anytime soon for a project to fit them on so might as well.

Cheers, Yeah the paint is in great condition for the age of the car, with only having the front bumper, wings, sideskirts, bonnet, mirrors and roof rails painted, (which was basically down to my stupidity they needed done) but the ceramic coating keeps it looking sweet!, ive noticed my front bumpers starting to get a right few stone chips etc, after the 2 trips to england this year, though am planning a few front end changes over winter so that will sort that.

Number plate is static foam and vinyl, sticks to basically any smoothish surface and peels off in seconds leaving no mess or residue, then can be reapplied and removed over and over. I used to make the typical stick on ones (i make stickers myself so cost really didnt matter) but after the second time coming off they were pretty much done.

Ordered a BCS Powervalve exhaust system, with 4" Carbon Black Ceramic Tips, was unsure on the black tips but i do like them now. For those that dont know this system is valved to the boost pressure, so under normal driving it has the valve closed, then when your driving it hard the valve opens and bi passes the rear box. Ive wanted to complete the rest of the exhaust system for quite some time (already had fitted a 3" downpipe and Sports Cat/ also own the Decat) and the catback system was as OEM, Searching for the perfect exhaust system on the forms i didnt want something too loud, i was happish with my set up but did lacked abit of noise, a tiny bit would have been nice, not to mention the performance benfits of the full turbo back 3" system. But reading the forums wrecked my head milteks to loud scoprion better others mitek was better, also didnt want to have an unbearable drone at motorway speeds with various roadtrips etc i still wanted the car nice to drive. ...so...i couldnt make my mind up. Until i picked this system up, and i dont think i could have asked for any better,
48626248461_0417c74d1c_c.jpg

Driving it easy there is a little bit of noise, then when you floor it it opens up, then off boost the valve closes causing a bit of burbling and the odd loud crack and bang, Crusing at 60/70mph on the motorway not a single drone out of it until you start hitting boost then it starts to make noise, will try and get a decent video of it But heres a clip on my Instagram hopefully it works, But over the moon with how it sounds now.

At the weekend Audi TT Northern Ireland Club had their yearly Grand Tour, and this year being around the Morunes, and we had EPIC weather for the tour, Thankfully though no issues this time seeing as the last time i took the car Slega Direction ended up me busting my sump and being towed home.

Really pleased with the car atm, its turning out how i envisioned it back at the start, a car that could day to day in, blast round the B roads and have fun with, and give it a wash and park up at a car show. Mods have stopped now until the winter, though most of the mods left are fairly big jobs (some simple changes but take some work to fit/build them), will be taken off the road at the End of September, though off to Scotland in 2 weeks for Cleanfest show, had planned a few other trips but decided to leave it at that and put the money away for the changes.

Thankfully the car made it home, having clutch pedal issues, sticking down etc and not returning, likely/hopefully the Master Cylinder on the pedal, which i have a replacement for and all, but just lack of space (and time to make space) ment i couldnt fit it prior to leaving. though will get that sorted soon hopefully though the car is due to come off the road at the end of the month anyway.

Cracking weekend away thankfully the weather held out and only got rain the Sunday night while sitting waiting for boarding on the boat. While at the show was once again speaking to Del at Optimus trimmers and throwing back and forward some ideas to do with the interior to match up the new seats, though more on that as and when, few plans over winter but need the bank balance to recover first and trying to get the Black Focus Daily finished up and back on the road finally.

Had planned to be currently in England this weekend at Ultimate Stance show but had deceided to hold off and save the money towards bits i want done for next year, the 3/400 quid it would have cost at least would cover some of the mods or be a chunk towards them, so the car was Sorned at the end of september, and barely had any attention since. Though I have found out battery drain issue i had if the car was left for a while even struggled at SoLow show to start the following day after sitting over night, but have since found the cause and will be working to rectifiy it over winter.

I realised after sorning the car i never got a good video of the exhaust of my own, drive by etc, I managed to find these on facebook, show off the noise a bit better with a crack/pop on the first one at the end.

Thanks to Aaron Motorsports for the first one

My daily focus has since been getting all the attention while being off the road nearly 2 years  after crashing it in the bad snow Febuarury 2018 its pretty much complete now just finish polishing and Ceramic coating it, then sorting mot, ill update the thread on it once its ceramic coated. Once its done ill pull it out the unit and do a photoshoot of the tt then tuck it in the corner were the focus is currently and set to work on the mods.

Seeing as no car shows on the horzion anytime soon its about time i post some photos. Anyone that follows me on Instagram or Facebook will have seen these over the last week or so.

Anyone that knows Audi TT mk1s (and i think some other VWs of the same era have similar issues) the centre screen gets covered in lines across the screen making it hard to read, mine had been doing this for the last few years, though the more i drove it the better it got till there was only 1 or 2 lines on it and was fully readable. Though sadly over winter the dash decided to throw up the 99999miles issue that they can have, so bit the builet and sent it off for a full repair.

Next on the list was swaping out the Door cards over to black and Tan items rather than the grey, also swapped over the rear pannels to all black.

I do plan to swap out the rest of the grey plastics inside to Black ones or tan ones but that will be done in the future.

Now to sort mechanical issues, Again the issues with a MK4 platform car, when you go low, passenger inner CV boots tear and rip. So it was that time of the year again to swap out the CV boot, which i basically do every year prior to mot. while i was swaping out the shaft the ball joint fittings sheered, and swapped out the ball joint while i was at it.

Removed the Tinted headlights, and sunstrip and the car was MOT ready.... which ended up receiveing a TEC extention.

With a few weeks before dubshed date, and progress going very well with only a few bits and peices to sort, a good solid days work it would have been ready, i decided to get more work done! I had been toying with one for ages! few years back Safety devices were the only ones available off the shelve but had stopped producing them unless i got an order for 10+, so that was a no go, Few years later they currently produce them again, but are a 16week lead time atleast, but wasnt 100% what i was after due to having to remove the rear trim pannels for fitting, as 90% would be fitting them for racing purposes and have the interior stripped out anyway. So sent a message off to Wayne at Motor Sport Roll Cages, and he built up my cage how i wanted it, with the X brace and fits around the interior trim unlike the safety devices single brace and having to remove interior trim. It also does mount to structural parts of the car, but is completely removeable and reverseable with no traces if i ever decide to remove it.

Going back to October time i picked up some new wheels. I had been toying with various wheels, and fitments, looks etc, As much as id love to buy a 3k set of BBS RS or similar priced rims, i couldnt bring my self to run them all the time with out the worry of damaging them. and couldnt justifty 3k on a set of wheels that i fit for some shows etc. I made a Jump on set of Rial Daytona Wheels, I had thought about going black centres or grey, but was afraid of loosing the detail in photos and in dull settings (indoor shows etc) and having similar issue that i currently have with taking photos on the OZ wheels. The faces are done in a Copper/Bronze/Brown almost anodised finish, with the inner part of the spokes black, rear barrels are also painted black to aid in making it look cleaner.

As anyone knows with spit rims they can be a bugger! tyres were fitted and they leaked only 1 out of 4 was holding air, the rest had fully deflated over the course of a day, so they were split once again, cleaned out and resealed, new metal valves fitted, and 3 out of 4 sealed! final one has since been rebuilt and sealed ready for the tyre to go back on, then when the shows started being canceled i put it on the back burner (ill sort it next weekend...ill sort it next weekend....), and now most tyre places are shut, i now have to wait to get the last tyre on, and get decent photos of the car outside of the garage with all 4 wheels on.

Currently over the moon with how the car is looking/going to look. Need to do the rear seat delete area again to fit around the cage, though will likely be similar to how it was before, Other than a few more interior peices i want to change/trim i dont have too many more plans in the immediate future, other than a Big brake kit, and a few maintance/future proofing jobs, but who knows lol

Actually wasnt! I was expecting alot more which was one of the reasons i kept putting it off, seeing an off the "shelve" safety devices one is around £700 i presumed a custom one would be way more expensive. Id say its every bit as good as the safety devices one if not better!

I do still love the OZs my self, they will be staying in my garage, and make an appearance from time to time, though thought it was about time i had a change, as this year would have been the 4th time with them on.

Called out to the workshop to make sure everything was ok, and let the TT run for a bit and grab a few bits and pieces so i could do a bit of work at home, decided to fit 2 of the new wheels and pull the car outside for some better photos (only 2 wheels as one is still missing a tyre)

The ground is quite uneven, and also with only 2 Rials being on and 2 OZ wheels on the other side the slight size difference will make the car sit off too.
