I think that "BIG 1" sold for a clean fortune at auction. If you really needed to advertise the fact... party[1].gif

21k for that!? The estimate was clearly justbto try and drum up publivity.
If you are cruising round in a Ferrari folk know you have a load of money. I doubt anyone who doesn't know what car it is would be helped by that fairly cryptic plate too.

If I had a 250 california I wouldn't care what anybody thought. Simply because I would have so much money :p

I understand that I am in the minority but I really don't get changing reg plates on a car at all, maybe it stems from being brought up in the south where there is no such thing as personal plates.

I cant understand how people could want to spend money on 2 pieces of **** yellow and white plastic with different letters from the piece of plastic they currently have.

yup same here, I've never understood the desire to shell out stupid money on something that in reality never belongs to you, i can never get my head around why people actually think a car looks better with a personal reg on it, its a car, it'll always have two bits of plastic strapped to it regardless.

You're not alone @davecoupe . I've never seen the appeal myself. I never look at a car and go "Aww that needs a nice 2 digit plate to set her aff bai". My opinion of plates that almost say something is even lower, I just immediately think they're an ostentatious t**t! People can waste their money on them if they wish, I'm sure I spend money on things others can't get their head around too. I also see them as a lump of platic that spoil the look of a nice car nomatter what's written on it.

I remember watching a programme about plates once and the best pesonal reg was some spelling of Nigel. Can't remember if it was the dearest or most desired or what the reason was

I always used to see the mayor of Chelmsfords limo out and about, the number plate was F1, i remember thinking it must be worth a fortune all those years back, eventually that bloke who makes Range Rover Sports look even more terrible ( Khan ) bought it ( i think ) and im sure i saw somewhere he wanted a million quid to part with it.

He wanted 10mil .... 10mil for a piece of white and a piece of yellow laminated plastic.

I priced LEW15 and N1CKY and iirc they were price at over 110k for the 2

They to me arent even proper private plates, if you have to use numbers and screw caps to spell your name out then your doing it all wrong!!

I thought they spelt it quite obviously LEW15 is around ravenhill and clearly spells my name without any messing about. Same for N1CKY imo. You're never going to get a LEWIS or NICKY or any name more than 3 letters without using numbers

Its an Essex thing, It started 20 years ago, those who are old enough to remember, a private plate was never made up from using numbers digits and a well placed screw cap and a reg transferred from a clapped out 1986 mk3 escort. It was tacky even back then. ;-)

My mum and dad bought me one for my 21st. I then moved to the republic so they have it on their car. Its nothing special just a my initials and birthdate But its a 6 digit plate so looks distinctive now.cant imagine its worth that much so even though i have no plans to go back its not worth selling
