Hi all,
Got myself the above car start of September and 2nd week December it lost all power. Would still drive but not over roughly 18mph. No noises that were out of the ordinary and no smoke nor lights on the dash.
Got it towed to the garage I bought it off and they diagnosed a blocked dpf.
They took the dpf off and sent for a bath somewhere to clean it (which it got twice apparently), but when they put it back on the car there was no improvement at all.
They they thought it might be a blocked/faulty egr valve so removed/cleaned and replaced that.
still no improvement.
So, it's been 4 to 5 weeks now and they seem to be at a loss as to why what they have done hasn't helped.
each time they put the computer on it, it's saying it's the dpf filter.
They are now talking about gutting the dpf which I'm thinking may not be the best idea due to mot emissions tests etc.
Point to note, the place i got it from is a car sales with a one man garage attached. They dont do any mechanical work on cars other than those they sell themselves so probably not the best mechanic for a car like bmw.
anyone had this peticular problem and managed to get it sorted?
Any tips on a good bmw indy specialist near lisburn?
I have spoken to someone that has always had bmw's and he said best bet would be to remap it and get dpf and egr delete done. He also mentioned turbo actuator maybe at fault but couldnt be sure.
Anyone any advice on this?
How would them gutting dpf impact mot etc?
Any and all help is muchly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
