Must say I used Brian grieves a few times and always was happy and he was always a good to talk to guy. I passed his detail to 3 members on here, Neil above and one other. Both had a poor experience.
The third wouldn want anyone else other than Brian working on the car

his wife mad.
Near ballyclare,it's like 50 miles away.

Not sure if you were trying to put across that Colm Hyland is 50 miles away from me or yourself? It's not in my respect. Its less than 30 miles. But that's not the point anyway. I like to establish a good relationship with a good quality garage and build up a rapport. I have this with the guys at Country Garage, but even with their generous discounts that they can provide me, their labour charges are still killing me. That's as you would expect from a main dealer though. Also, as I like to get handy with the spanners and do as much work as I can, BMW main dealers tend to shy away from your car as it's too risky for them to get involved in the process. They certainly won't fit any non-bmw parts, or aftermarket parts if I purchase them as they cannot provide a guarantee on them. Totally understandable. Whereas i get the impression that Colm could help out regardless of the situation. It's in his best interest after all. If I get good service from him, he will be my go to guy for work on my car, and that could put thousands in his pocket over the next few years. On average, people spend around £3000 a year on servicing and maintenance on these M5's, and that;s without any major problems which are an all too often occurrence themselves!
Distance isn't an issue for me if I get good service. I'd take the car over to the mainland if that was a viable option in terms of cost or getting the right guy on the job. These M5's do need a high degree of maintenance and they are a highly specialised F1 derived engine. Sometimes getting the right work done on it will mean taking it away. That's just part and parcel of owning it.

Colm will be getting another call from me before too long to get the car taken in. Fingers crossed then.

Aye he's always booked up to the hilt. Had my Evo up with him for a timing belt the other day and there was 3 other evos sitting waiting plus a host of other stuff, he never stops but that shows the reputation he has.

Did he get you sorted? He's a right bit out of the way out in the county but he's always sorted my bmws out, did a great job of fitting my new headlights to the F30 and didn't charge the earth.

Lol at people talking about businesses being 'out of the way' over here

It's simple, if you want a specialist to work at your car, you travel and go to the best. NI is a very small place, nowhere is far away! There's guys in Scotland with GTRs and the like would travel 8hrs or more to Middlehurst/Litchfield to get their cars looked at.
I'm from Shetland, if you buy a BMW or Merc, you're paying £400 for a 14hr ferry every time you need to go to a main dealer!

I'm not complaining, I just said it's moreso out of the way than others. I travel to colm because I trust him, there's little others I'd trust with my car.
