i know I don't need a specialist as such for your typical servicing etc but rather use someone that regularly work on them if they're ever to do any maintenance work on mine when/if the time comes.

Anyone recommend someone?

Usually use @Nicky in Crossgar.. Think he's afraid to lift a ratchet these days!? :p

Cheers, Joe

Well I do most of my own stuff but he sorted me out when I couldn't get a wishbone out. Had plenty of m3s waiting to work on and is an ex Bavarian tech so it was good enough for me

I usually do servicing etc myself too but not with the 535, just let the experts look after it for me, looks better when selling it too lol

Wasn't there a BMW specialist on the Hightown Rd?
Remember my dad bringing his cars there, probably long retired now

[EDIT] - This post relates to an undisclosed service company, it was wrongly linked to Johnny @ AI Autosport by an incorrect quotation by me.. Please ignore the rest of the thread where statements are confused between this undisclosed company and AI Autosport.

Recently spend £1200 on a service (E92 M3, big service @ 60k with new battery and some suspension work ).. However I had asked him to specifically look at why the engine light had come on and the car was "hunting / misfiring" on acceleration at low RPM (before engine light would show).. His answer was "not to run the car low on petrol as the pump can't feed the 8th injector on full throttle".. At this point I decided not to get into technical details on this answer (never mind not running it low on Petrol)

Issue still shows it head from time to time, just waiting on the next time to get it looked at.

Try Railway Auto Spares in Ballynahinch. They are BMW Specialists and know their stuff. I always went to them with my 535d

Thought they were only breakers?

I'd be afraid them sneakily replacing one of my good turbo's for something on its way out :p

Davy at Railway Autos is excellent! Genuine bunch of guys down there and not hard to pay.
Any troubles I have with BMWs, these are the first guys I visit.

on the 6cyl it was usually a coil pack - easily tested by swapping 2 around and seeing if the fault moved too. No idea about the V8s though.

Interesting link, I need to get the code from the ECU (anyone have a reader handy?) to verify..

When it was being serviced they did state they read the code and it was "misfire on cylinder 8", but I suspect there more too it than that..

@Todd has a wee device, might be fit for this.

Ye he mentioned to me he's around Antrim From time to time if I ever needed faults cleared or something

Think he did work for bmw himself before going alone

He done my fuel filter, air filter, oil filter and oil change, gear oil change, cabin filter, turbo filter (labour only) for 50 quid. On a e90 320D. Accommodated me in the evening time and he didn't mind I waited while he worked.
