106 or Saxo diesal. Economical but not reliable.
Lupo / polo / Aroosa. REliable, economical, not sporty.
Yaris if you could get one at that price might be good.... or a DCI clio?

£3k for a late '90's diesel would be tight going, especially if you want a sporty looking car.

306 HDi would be the ticket, but I doubt if you'd get one at that price. If you did, it would more than likely have been half way round the world.

A 306 D-Turbo Sport could be the ticket. Should be able to pick one up for that sort of money. Well finished with half leather and other nice touches. A lot older though!! 94 ish, I think?

a dci clio would be good but i think too expensive.

£3k is a reasonalble limit but would push to 4k for something good.

the gti is fantastic but proving a little uneconomical for the workruns :worried:

not sure if its defo going - only if we can get something else cool.

ease of parking is the key here around stranmillis/botanic :grinning:

306/golf a little bigger than ideal.

something 106 sized is perfect.

what about a diesel 106 with a gti kit? ;)

You could get a MINT CRX Vtec for that money with lower miles than anything mentioned above.
If you get a good one with FSH it will be very reliable.
If you want to drive easy and keep it off the vtec then it will be more economical than any of the above except the diesals and if you want then it has the power!

I loved mine and would buy another one in a flash If I got a really good one.
