I paid for a new daily the other day in the one payment and taking a chance that it’s there for the lorry man when he’s due to lift it on Wednesday. :joy: I hate the fact we can’t go over ourselves at the minute as I’d usually pay a small deposit and get next available flight that suits but not possible at the minute.

Got a great qoute for a collection from London to Belfast from Bartlett Transport. Fully insured up to £200,000 for no extra charge also which is reassuring.

Straight talking guys and accomodating

Is there any of these that will actually assist in buying unseen, like give the car a look over and quick check out? Obviously if find it’s scrap you pay the fee as normal so there not out money

The only problem with that is, if they don’t see something wrong with the car that you find some people would try and hold the accountable for said problem. You could go down the route of an aa or rac inspection first then get the car collected if all looked good.

mate I don’t mean a full once over. Just a 2 min walk around by any knowledgable chap would be enough to discount crap from fair enough. No accountability or anything. Just a ‘aye all panel gaps look grand, no rust hanging off it, all roughly one colour and engine isn’t knocking or smoke’ type check

Do you have FB?

If so, speak with Ryan Lynch, he is out twice a week most weeks. I’m sure if you explain what you’re after he’ll be able to spend 5 mins looking at the car before handing over the final money as long as his cost is still covered. He brought a wee car back for me last week and his prices are spot on. Tell him I sent you.

No harm but I can't see a man taking a lorry to someone's door to lift a car and then turn around and say no to lifting it unless it's totally immobile. He's there with the lorry already, no skin off his nose what shape it's in as long as he's being paid at the end.

If you want to rely on that then fair enough.

Best bet is a ton of pics, video and a WhatsApp video chat with the owner. That'll get you close.

Or a RAC / AA inspection.

that’s the thing, he is being paid either way. I’d pay a bloke 300 quid to tell me ‘it’s rattling like fook’ he can do what he wants with what goes on the back of the lorry but the runs paid for.

to be clear I don’t expect a full check over or for him to be accountable. But your right, lots of pics and communication should help cover most

A RAC check is about that sort of money.

ever used one yourself?

Never spent more than a few grand unseen so never bothered. A local specialist can also check it over, had one lined up to look at a Cayenne last year but the sale fell through.

I have a car that has been SORN for a few years and want to get it taken to a garage to get it looked at and any repairs done to bring it back to life. My usual garage is approximately 6 miles away on the other side of Belfast and I will obviously need to get it taken on a truck or trailer. As the MOT centres are currently closed it will probably need to come back to me on a truck or trailer as well once the garage has looked at it and undertaken any repairs required.

Does anyone have any recommendations for car transporting across Belfast and any idea of how much I should expect to pay?
