i remember being about 17/18 and my mums mate rocking up to the house in one of those wee white box charade turbo's - her & my mum went away for the weekend and she left the keys so i took it a spin - mind blown! it was a hoot of a thing to drive and had a wee turbo light on the dash when kicking in

For a "cheap" EV the choice is basically Leaf or Zoe, maybe an old i3. Even then that's 10k or more. Anything remotely interesting looks like 30k+. Saw a five-year old model S with 170k miles for 35k asking price, lol.
And that's with no way of checking or knowing the state of the batteries on any of them.
