hey dude......

have had it out on the road a couple of times to blow the cobwebs off !! i need to get teh rad out over the wk end.. as its just covered/filled in crud/dust hence why i think the cooling isnt that effective... getting a few bits and bobs ordered, with the potential for at least trying to get out at kirky over the next few weeks...

Hard to see in pics.... but the rad seemed full of crud, dust etc. From years of hibernation...

Before a dose of laser....

After brush through with laser and light power wash..

Hard to see on photos.... but cleared a lot of stuff out....

Also have me an excuse to take out the road for another blat.... In a similar way that superbikes are insane on the road, this is on a par! Just mad... wheels spin galore, and superb noise

Would love a spin in something like this. I've been in quick things before but I imagine this would just be on another level of exhilaration. Power to weight and being so close to the ground it must be savage!

So, a surprise late entry for the sprint at kirky today.... Had planned to get new rubber, and a set up done before getting it out in anger.... But glad I took it out as is anyway.

It's absolutely barking mad, as mad as a cut snake!!! Mid corner under steer was savage, and had a fair bit of snap oversteer on exit.... Neither probably helped by 12 year old rubber! Mind you some fellow competitors in the class put a complaint in as they said I was running 'racing' tyres... The fun of competition! Lol

Can't wait to get fresh rubber on it, and a proper check over... Really enjoyed getting out for a slide

It’s absolutely mental (In a good way) was absolutely buzzing driving it.

Might try to get it out to a race, see if it’s ok on longer runs. Temps and pressures were sweet in the short stuff yesterday.

What tyres were you running? I know for the road going class at the championship sprints you have to run tyres off the MSUK list. So basically 888r’s.

Acb10 they are on the list too I believe, but have an age limit (for the car) I think.... some guys were questioning the age of my car initially, all become clear why later!

The scrute was sensible as it was clear the tyre was not a racing tyre.. which was the complaint. It also passed MOT ~ 2 months ago on the tyres they had the blue book out and saw them referenced as road going.

Funny thing is yesterday was a ‘fun’ non championship event.. so seemed pretty strange. I didnt bother collecting my pot afterwards, I was only there for a day’s craic.

Aye the car needs to be older than 1990 to use them. I don’t think I’d worry for a “fun” day.

Just be careful for the road going class. It needs to be list 1A or 1B. You could go in modified specialist production and you could use any tyre you want.

Cheers.... i’ve Used 888s before and always thought they were good, I guess the advantage of them over the ZZRs is you can go softer compounds...

Always hard to get one tyre to do everything!

Starting to get to the point I could maybe try a race in this wee bus..... still a few things to do, but would like to try to get a run out at kirky at the end of the month...

Also tested my new super low entry super high lift jack & chassis stands tonight... well happy 👌

Yea, I do like the colour actually... suits it.

They are narrow, very similar size to strikers I think.

Will be interesting to see how it goes

Prob will yea..won’t get it out before then , so will treat it as a test day!

I can’t see it having the pace of the radicals etc. But if they and the quick crossle are grilling each other up... could be the potential for some fun!!

Will just be interesting to get it out. Gears were a bit clunky, mid corner over steer was wild.... and the front brakes were very out of whack at the sprint... so can only improve

so... the caterham has been treated to new fluids front to rear and a full service inc timing belt etc... also new feet fitted.

have a nice handmade/fabricated gear lever extension - as the old one was just a knob level with the tunnel... this one gives better leverage which is always a good thing with a seq box.

fire eater/extinguisher fitted..... new drivers belts.. got the transponder wired in last night, just need to fit the FIA rain light now, and we shoudl be ready for kirkistown on Saturday.

have no idea what way she will go - just treating it as a test day with some race starts thrown in for fun !!
