Have no immediate intentions to buy an EV, but as my spark is about to start next week on the garage, I'm thinking it would be a good idea to have the garage ready for a charging point in the future. Not going to be installing any hardware now, but is there anything more needed to have ready over a bit of ducting and an empty box where the point will be outside?

As is covered in the charging point thread...

If you're actually ducting things properly. ensure the duct runs from desired charging location, to your consumer unit locality. It just makes life easier. And ensure your consumer unit has adequate provision for say a couple of charging points or whatever other you might add later.
Or if they are to be fed from a garage CU, ensure adequate cable size from house CU or main supply to that garage CU.

Either way, if they are to be fast chargers, you will need CT's at the main incoming supply at the house so overall current draw can be monitored. Again, this comes back to ducting from garage or charge points to source of mains supply so the relevant cables can be installed.
