Anymore luck with this @Chris tii? I was down getting my car back last night and was telling him about this and he was totally at a loss as to how it ended up at that figure for an engine bay painting.
I would recommend Him to anyone needing any welding work done, he stuck to his original quote (450-500) even though he did have to do some extra cutting and welding as is nearly always the case with rust. In total it cost me £530 for welding to rear drivers inner arch, chassis leg, filler neck panel plus a new section of front drivers chassis leg and new jacking point panel, seam sealed and stone chipped the whole underneath and filled the box sections with cavity wax. That included fitting new rear brake cylinders and brake pipes for MOT. I had bought the 2 panels already so he didn't have to fabricate those luckily but I still thought it was reasonable for the man hours involved.
