Not really, generally cosworth engines are strong, they dont need a rebuild as much as buff would lead you to believe ;)

By the way rsnutter is just a wannabe know it all about RS's. He drives a GTi lookalike, says it all really. Paul dont come on here and preach that you know all, you dont, neither do I, im not trying to preach that I know every little detail about cosworths, im simply showing people a few FACTS about the car, I would actually love to see what Ive posted thats untrue, infact show me!

I was out in peters escort yesterday and believe me it is driven hard, VERY VERY HARD. Bounced off the limiter and lanuched VERY HARD!!!! And he said to me it gets driven like that all the time. Its done 20,000 miles so far and he has never had 1 problem with it.

Peter is running a standard box.

He has had 5 boxes you spoon - YOU OWN ONE OF HIS OLD ONES!!!!!
and if you care to read my first post, i said i wasn't pretending to know loads about cossies. Also you are wrong about so many things its untrue.

1. everything you said about tuning cossies is wrong, power figures and what is need for each stage of tune is innaccurate.
2. How the hell can my car be a GTi lookalike when it preceeded the Gti?
3. If anyone has a wanna be car its your dads red one that you claim is yours, with its poor management - it is so untunable compared to a large turbo model its not right.
4. When you actually buy and pay for the running of your own car your comments may be taken onboard.

Everyone knows you lie constantly so for once give it a rest.

costs a few grand to do it right as you have to swap loads of bits over, you are actually better going aftermarket management, autronic or similar.

And I thought Skyline owners were pretentious! Cosworth is a part of motoring history no doubt, but some of you are just too damn nostalgic!

I hate to say it - but £12k on an Escort Cossie or an Evo 7, Evo every time for me.

I would just like to point out to all the people that say Evos are so expensive to tune that if you buy an Evo 7 fq300 for roughly the same money as a cossie stick a cat replacement pipe on it and an Ecutek all for around £500 you can make 370Bhp all day long and very reliable too........

I like Cossies, especially the Escorts. But I too have heard stories about their reliability and I'm not convinced.

If I had a million in the bank and simply wanted to buy a nice collector's edition, I'd go for the lowest mileage Escort Cosworth Lux I could find.

£13k for a daily driver though? Evo anytime. Newer, faster, more reliable and generally more capable all round than the Cossie ......... for the same money.

1. Everything Ive said about tuning cosworths is wrong? ahahahaha no, chip exhaust actuator and your running 270/280bhp escort FACT!!!!

2. The GTi comment was a joke, but your being your usual self you wouldnt realise that.

3. Here we go, Paul your a jealous guy, I got the escort you fell out with me, bigshow got a genisus amp years ago, you fell out with him, quite sad really.
With regards to poor management, yes it isnt the best in the world but its by all means not the worst. Speak to SECS, he has developed a straight ECU swap S8, which is around £400, you can then bolt on turbos, injectors, map sensors etc etc... So its not that expensive to change.

4. Buy and pay for the running of my own car? I spend over £400 a month paying off that car, just because you work your balls off for £600 a month dont have a go at me because I work and can afford a nice car, its simply jealousy. Yes my father helped me out with the loan, and whats your point?

Your problem paul is your jealous, very very jealous and when someone has something better than you, you fall out with them. Everyone knows im a liar blah blah, oh is this like the "skiman doesnt have a license or any insurance" etc etc but funny that whenever someone ran into the side of the fiesta I was able to produce my license and insurance there and then? Paul kindly grow up!

Gaz, an escort cosworth should never be a daily driver.

Its just not the type of car you want to drive everyday. Its a car you want to wait for good days for, a sunday driver.

Why not? Why would you want to let it sit in the garage gathering dust every day? Cars are built to be driven after all. Doesn't say much for your faith in the Cosworth engine if you only take it out on good Sundays. Would you say that you'd drive a tuned one even less? And if so why?

No you see your taking this the wrong way. Its not that the car cant cope with being driven every day etc, its just the type of car that you only want to use in good days. If you drive it everyday it would become just an everyday car which is not what an escort cosworth is.

if you used it every day it would get car park dings / scrapes from idiots who treat a car as a means of just getting from A to B ?

It would also de-value the car having starship mileage and what is the point in using it for the daily grind to work, stuck in traffic? Might as well have a **** car for that kind of thing and a cool car for ragging the tits off on sunny days, when you can actually enjoy the driving experience.

I don't agree with you at all Skiman. Every car was designed to be driven every day, not sit locked away. You're speaking from an RS collector's point of view - someone who buys them for cult value, rarity and doesn't want to clock up mileage.

There's an equal number of people who will buy it to drive simply because they don't want, or can't afford, to run 2 cars. My point was that as a daily driver, there are much faster, more reliable and cheaper options.

You are right, a lot of people do drive theirs everyday, some of which are supercar material ie 400+bhp and they are driven everyday, i just CHOOSE not to drive mine everyday.

My point was that as a daily driver, there are much faster, more reliable and cheaper options

Indeed there are, ive never disputed that.

So in summary, cossies are cool for their cult status as sunday drivers, but at the end of the day, as a drivers car, there's more bang for buck out there.

i think one of those horns that play that tune you always associate with fluffy dice would always go well with the cossie
