Yeah but it's only brake dust . As long as it's not baked on for 3 months it shouldn't really need a seperate product to remove (what is effectively just) dust.
I think those ones that change colour are quite deceiving as they react to iron , which brake dust basically is so you see the mad blast of colour and you think "oh wow , this is really good"
But if you used soapy water it may very well do the same thing except it's not as visible.

Someone should do a 50/50 test. I would but my wheels are rarely dirty and my van wheels aren't the best shape for a test.

But soapy water means getting down and putting in physical effort lol. That dragons breath stuff is just spray on and rinse off a few mins later

Minimal effort when washing a car is key for me!

So you don't need to wash the wheel at all? Just spray this stuff on and hose it off?

I started a thread a wee while back on this very subject. I ended up buying the valetpro bilberry wheel cleaner. Excellent stuff. Spray on, powerhose off. Beezer!

Love articulate as well. But for marks that you are unable to shift, a touch of stone brite works wonders. Plus articulate dilutes like nothing else i've used. Superb

Traffic film remover Ross?
Yes mate. 99% of the dirt on your wheels is normal traffic film. There's not much articulate won't shift really. Specialist wheel cleaners have a place in every detailers arsenal but it is very very rare I would have to use my own specialist wheel cleaner.

Kinda like the sledgehammer to crack s walnut analogy.

Eh? I doubt you will buy it much cheaper than directly from @Big Pimp given he is the manufacturer.

For heavy cleaning I love ultrabrite. Moderate cleaning articulate is spot on. A set of wheel woolies from Procar is as good an investment as a good wheel cleaner imo. The right product plus the right tools

Bit of a thread revival

I picked up a set of alloys for the car and the backs of them are black for what I assume is years of burnt in brake dust. Already used about 1/2L of wonder wheels on one rim, and at the rate it's working or should I say not working, I'd need about 5L of the stuff for each rim.
What's a good stuff that would work on such an extreme build up and also what good for removing the sticky backing from the balance weights

Carefully
I'd imagine @Big Pimp products would work well if you increased the strength and used with warm water (and don't let anything dry in).

Hopefully he can recommend a method.

I know the kind of stuff you mean on the inside of rims, almost feels like you need to take a scraper to it! Hateful job.

Slow and low!
@Big Pimp's tarminator is really excellent stuff for any baked on tar or glue/wheel weights etc. My go to product now. Highly recommend it.

BiltHamber autowheel is an excellent wheel cleaner. Has added fallout remover too. That and tarminator would be a regular combo I'd use to clean the worst of the worst rims.

I used 'Revolver' wheel cleaner from Elite car products on ormeau road for the last deep wheel clean i did, applied neat it made the job a breeze, wasn't expensive for 5LT either as i remember

UltraBrite - i would nearly bet will shift it with relative ease.

can you upload a photo of said back of rims?

Is Ultrabrite the same stuff as Stonebrite

That is after 4 or 5 washes with wonder wheels. Applied, agitated, power hosed off, like said above, feels like I need to take a chisel to it to remove
