Back again.
Spent the last few weeks looking around for something half interesting again and was going to shift on the VRS, had considered an Audi S6, another S4 (Avant this time), and had almost pulled the trigger on an S3. Then started looking at things that were a bit more modern, like an Alfa Romeo Giulia, even diesel A6 Avants. So, naturally I've ended up with something about as far away from those as you can get. Saw this ad on autotrader yesterday morning, I had always admired Caymans and thought they were great value for money, and speaking with @big_pete about his around Christmas is enough to make anyone want one, he has nothing but praise for them. Messaged about this and turns out it was about 15mins away from my house, so went to look at it last night. Honestly as soon as I saw it I knew I was buying it. Looks absolutely class in black, and the interior really sold it for me. Guards red and black leather, and it's like a time capsule. Bolsters all perfect, not a mark on it, and most importantly even the buttons on the dash aren't marked!! Took it out for a spin then and my word it's fun to drive. Pretty much agreed there and then to buy it, and picked it up tonight.

No idea about the spec, literally just home with it. I know it has the chrono pack and a bose sound system. Full service history, from Porsche and from specialists, with a lot of work done for the last MOT. Feels like it needs nothing at all.

Have driven around 30 miles and initial thoughts on Porsche ownership are:

  • It turns heads. Everyone looks at it. I'd say 5% of those people are thinking "nice", and the other 95% thinking "what a w@nker"
  • It's not fast, at all. I'd say the VRS feels faster sometimes. But my god does it handle well, and it actually sounds class. It's going to be a LOT of fun to drive.
  • Forgot the fuel filler is on the front wing. That was embarrassing.
  • Something's wrong with the heater - even on "LO" it blows air at you around 50degrees C. Quite uncomfortable.
  • I CAN'T WAIT to take it round Kirkistown.
  • Did I mention everyone calls you a w@nker?
  • Could do with being 25/30mm lower.
  • I immediately want a 911 GT3
I'll get some proper pics at the weekend once I get it (hopefully) cleaned and get a good look around it, but it's in absolutely phenomenal order. Too good for me. I'll probably ruin it.

For the money, it definitely seems like a fantastic wee car! I'm expecting to wake up tomorrow morning with with a sense of self importance and a massive beard.

Awesome šŸ˜Ž they definitely arenā€™t in anyway fast lol but the engine feels so eager as it climbs the revs it makes them so fun to drive, plus the balance. I donā€™t think anything else is better to drive for the money.

Breathing mods really really open the power up in them though.

Have never seen one with an interior like that before, looks lovely. Health to drive, you will find yourself always taking the long, twisty way home now lol

Looks awesome, ya w-nker Drive Capt :p

Jesting aside, it does look fantastic, health to drive fella!

Got any plans for it, aside from fixing the temp controls and Kirkie?

I fully accept my new w@nker status!

Plans will be minimal, I might speak to Blackline about some springs after a few weeks. And possibly some spacers, the rear looks a little lost. But that will be the height of it, it's too good to mess with really.

Thanks for the comments, the wheels and interior are a massive plus point I agree!

Also any recommendations for someone to look after these! Have heard mixed reports about McMillan, and it's a bit of a jaunt. Read on here some Porsche owners saying Porsche Belfast are actually fairly reasonable and knowledgeable too?

I have always found Belfast Porsche to be grand, an alternative would be AMG in Ballyclare.
ā€œNewā€ status?!

Looks great. Nice to see heated seats and Bose. When I was looking at Boxsters it was unreal how many were poverty spec.

Thatā€™s because the options list is endless and expensive, Ā£12k of options on mine and that doesnā€™t include the ā€œTā€ specific options that come standard on mine which add up to about another Ā£7k. Porsche options are mad.

AMG in Ballyclare are great, he has mine at the moment, heā€™s very reasonably priced and an absolute gent too.

I have H&R springs in mine and spacers, I canā€™t remember the sizes but pretty sure itā€™s in my thread and it sits really well

AMG would be our family's go-to mechanic, couldn't recommend him enough.

Has a few tasty vehicles in his own collection.

Looks lovely Gaz - health to enjoy!

Another vote for AMG here as well, serviced mine a few weeks ago and very reasonably paid, also as Pete says, an absolute gent!

That looks like it would be a lot of fun drive and also looks in good order.

Another Vote for AMG I dealt with him for years and he is really genuine and down to earth.

Lovely that, love the interior, good to have a bit of colour without going over the top with red dash, roof, everything lol.

Great handling cars though, great up a back road! For parts and servicing I always had great experience with Porsche Belfast myself

Lovely car!

Iā€™m in the Porsche Belfast side thoughā€¦.. they will give you a price that will be similar to the independents with another stamp in the logbook

They always let me supply my own oil that saves Ā£200 over list price.

That 2.7 engine is a gemā€¦.. I would let you drive my 4.0l GT4 and you would be gutted

Pic of my beloved 2.7 boxster: the day I bought it..

Hard to beat a 987 for modern enough / special / value šŸ‘Œ I just didnā€™t like the long gearing on my s, how do you find it on the 2.7?

Iā€™d vote for AMG, lovely man that has a chat instead of trying for 2 weeks to get through to Porsche to hear a load spheel.

Depends what you want, oily hands or free coffees lol Tbf Porsche parts Iā€™ve found very helpful and reasonably priced.
