Difference between Mk5 Golf TDi 5/6 Speed Gearbox?

Hi all... had a quick search through google there and couldn't find the right answer.

Basically just wondering what the differences in a Mk5 Golf TDI (105) 5 and 6 speed gear boxes where?

The mother has a 6 speed golf at the minute, and i've spotted one for myself, but it's a 5 speed.

Is there much difference in these boxes, apart from the usual economy etc?

Any info is appreciated!

Can you definitely get a 6 speed 105hp model? Is it a Sport?

Are we talking 1.9?

yea... the one that we have at the minute is a 1.9tdi Sport (105bhp), and there's a 6 speed box in it.

but the one that i'm looking at is an SE.

Just wanting to know if there's much difference between the two boxes, apart from economy; Pro's and Con's of each.

Sports have 6 speed, SEs are 5 speed.

That's the only difference. B5.5 Passats were the same in the 130bhp dervs, i'm sure there's more.

I don't think either give much bother, the 6 speed will be slightly more economical obviously.

We had a 5 speed 1.9 and it was VERY economical.
