Seems to be the best place to post this. This project basically started 12 days ago when a friend told me he was going to build one for a bit of fun. I instantly thought I needed one in my life so the project began and the hunt for the required parts to build one.

Rough list of parts needed
Complete kart axle
Kart frame or make frame
Tubing to make or alter frame
Bmw front end
Engine 6.5HP
Throttle
Seat
Brake setup

Here's a photo of the sort of look I'm after

So first thing I bought was this bmx for £10 left it in with my friend who fitted a new stem and better v brakes
Sorry for the screen shop haven't any photos of it

Then ordered mountain bike handle bars

Then the big purchase was all of this plan was to cut the complete kart but changed my mind seemed such a waste so now selling it
Got the complete kart minus the engine
Spare wheels
Two axles
Another frame plus other bits

So decided build it from the old frame makes more sense
Went from this

To

Bought a new engine from Wilson's 6.5HP

The front nose I cut of is perfect for making the engine mount

The frame starting to get detabbed and modified the rear support bar, welded it so I can mount the engine frame to it please excuse my welding I haven't welded in ages

The front I've now detabbed and now using to mount the engine behind the axle

Now attached :grinning:

6mm Steel plate for mounting the engine

Have this custom alloy seat being made for me

I've also had all axle parts blasted and in primer which includes the axle, bearing carriers, hubs, sprocket carrier, disc carrier and the brake disc.
Not bad going for 12 days since the thought was put into my head

Ok bit more of an update got my seat collected which didn't turn out to be exactly what I wanted but new I could alter it to suit and paid very little for it

Just a little big looking

I marked out roughly what I wanted to remove

Now like this

I couldn't get hold of a pipe bender so got the torch out

These are just to blend the two outer rails into the inner rails

These two will be used to construct the neck

I then added two seat rail bars and the new front cross bar

Lathed up two sleeves to slit between the original tubing to my new tubing, the new tubing being a slightly thicker wall

Finished off tonight by mounting the seat and fitted the neck

Also if any off you are interested in building one let me know I have spare axles and wheels

Would seat not be too wide and youll slide about in it?
Cant wait for your next update , love it!!

Yes and no, the guy who made it is not local to me so I got it made bigger so I could add the 1" padded inserts if need be plus I wanted it that any of my mates could jump it and have a go.

id go red!

I think I will go with the red or the blue I personally like the purple the most but think I need a brighter colour on the frame. Plan would be to powder the frame and forks red/blue and Everything else black including the seat black

Why did you decide to put the engine behind you rather than under you @stuarty7 ?

(Not criticism just wondering) :grinning:

Got a little bit more done to it
I've been dying to get it on its wheels and one thing I didn't like was the original neck of the bmw just to thin so made my own.
Just a slight difference between the two

In the lathe

The finished article

Got the rear axle built and mounted :grinning:

Here she is finally rolling pretty happy with it
