I bought this last year unseen and unheard. Bit of a gamble but it paid off. It certainly made Christmas exciting!
Always wanted a v12 7 series and at the time this was the highest spec one on the market

Registered in 94 the last year of the e32, this one was sold by Paragon House, hence the PARAGON sticker on the back window. It was serviced by them and cotswolds BMW until 2009 where independent specialists have been servicing it since. So the it has a full service history, every detail noted in the service book which is great

Spec is:

Model: GC82 750IAL

Colour: 252 Calypso Red

Upholstery: 0458 Silver Grey Full Leather

Extras:

240 * Drivers Airbag

302 * Remote Control Anti-Theft

428 * Triangle+First Aid Kit

489 * Passenger Lumbar Support

496 * Rear Seat Heating

672 * BMW Bavaria 6 CD Changer

865 * Tables + Footrests

293 * TD Alloy Wheels+Tyres

401 * Electric Sliding Roof

488 * Driver Lumbar Support

494 * Front Seat Heating

662 * BMW Bavaria Professional Radi

812 * GB Specification

676 * BMW Hi - Fi Speaker System

Some general specs that are taken for granted on a 750iL are:

Full leather option, full leather door cards as opposed to just the handles, leather centre console & lower dash
Front and Rear electric seats
Double glazed windows
Rear sun blind
Inlaid wood trim
Front sport splitter
Wider v12 front grilles

Bit of a funny story with it.. I bought it when I was a student having no job and at the time 3 other old bms, a couple being v8s. You can imagine the nonsense I would have had to listen to if I landed home in another 'old' car from my parents .. so I hid it at an empty house my uncle had. You know that uncle thats into cars and gets your madness? Yeh him, everyone has that uncle. I hid it there until I got a low key shed cleared out at the farm that I could hide it in

After hiding for a couple of weeks it came home

So its been 14 months roughly since then and the car has remained in the shed being started every now and then. I hadn't really time to work on it with doing a masters but I did get the odd job fitted in during study leave. I'll add those in a bit

I decided to take it out 2 weeks ago to start working on it

So what does it need?
Well it needed nothing when I bought it apart from some bodywork. It was even mot'd. But sitting in the shed blessed it with a miss fire and rough idle. Not sure what the main cause is but I imagine it needs a good service from not having a proper drive in so long. M70s are prone to intake gasket leaks, cracked vac hoses, cracked fuel lines etc everything you'd expect from an old car I guess, so that will get sorted. Brakes need an overhaul too.

So theres much planned for it over the coming weeks which is why I have started this thread as a log for what I've done to it and the massive parts bill I'm going to accumulate :-#

Thanks for looking,

Steve

Loving that Steve, don’t think I’ve ever seen a V12 E32 in the flesh. They were always fairly subtle, slight larger kidney grilles IIRC? They weren’t cheap back in the day, nearly £55k 30 years ago - still a lot of money now never mind then!

Nice thing to keep locked away. My old man still has his E32, be nice to get them out to a bmw show or similar some time for a photo together.

Wow 55k? I really wasn’t sure what they would have been. They are harder to spot since other models came in long wheel base form but the wider grilles is the probably the biggest give away
It would look cool beside your dads. It has a really nice bodykit on it
This thread is definitely worthy of a sub. Retro BMW barges are epic.

Reminds me of this weapon I spotted up at the Ulster in January 😍

I was shocked when someone sent me that. There’s a handful of L7s in England but the majority of them are lhd. L7 is a dream car for sure
Fantastic. Not exactly the easiest car to hide LOL!
Haha it worked for about 6 weeks. When dad asked when I got it my reply was, ‘have that one a brave while now’. No questions asked
Car looks great Steve!

Best thing to do with the parts bill is to just pay it and don't add up the amount on the receipts, ever :joy:
Thanks Conor. Yea the intake gaskets are £600. Lets hope they repairable 8o|
You are a strange young man with a fascination with old BMW’s..........

but that is a beauty!

enjoy tinkering and getting it running perfect and I look forward to seeing you wafting about, chauffeuring lord @Rocko of the vale when he needs to go somewhere
Haha thanks. You could go for a run in the back there’s that much room
It appears that car has been cherished & maintained regardless of expense throughout its time. I trust you’l do the same.

Health to enjoy, it looks like an absolute cracker.
Thanks Barry. These cars can throw some big bills at you. But that’s generally down to poor maintenance. So it was a relief when I started to leaf threw the service book

Checked there and £53,750. Lot of cash back then.

I'm sure you're aware of this already but Alpina built 7 x RHD E32 B12 cars (2 of which were limo models, so essentially 5 'normal' road ones), which used the 750 V12 as their base. They only had 50bhp more so no major power difference, but would love one in the garage!

That is a lot of money. The original owner probably sat in the back most of the time given the tables and foot rests he ordered

Those B12s are class, I didn’t know about the limo ones, must have a nosey. There was one for sale last year. It was 40k. The owner was also selling a mora metallic e38 B12 for 50k

Another rare e32 is a 750i highline. All were long wheel base but I think they were LHD. They had 2 seats in the back with a fridge in the middle

Lovely. I remember the first 750 V12 I saw was at the Belfast Motor Show in the Kings Hall, must have been late 80s maybe? New model then, dark blue. The minder was supposed to keep the bonnet closed but everybody kept asking to see the engine. Must have a hoke around to see if I got a brochure.
I think it was just a 750, not the L.

I wish I was around when the e32 and e38 came out. Definitely the best 7s in my book anyway
There’s not that many 750s. Didn’t make sense buying one at the time. The v8s were just as fast, more economical and cheaper. But the 750s had the best spec and I guess it was a status thing.
Surely time for air ride and the 21” alpinas
Haha nooooo. 19 alpinas maybe and lowering springs but no mods until it’s perfect. I’d like a black one to mod. I think they are much cooler. Can’t find any though!
