Engine was stripped of everything not needed aircon, auto box, coolers, pump diff and shaft etc

Turns out it's not a crack shaft oil seal as first guessed also the rocker covers are pissing heavy too

Phonecall today from Andy @ FC motors to say the clutch arrived,,

IMG-20200109-WA0004-01.jpeg

Plate removed that was leaking oil, turns out it was a water gally removed cleaned and reseald for absolutely nothing 😂

Clutch fitted and lined up

IMG_20200109_195101.jpg

Auto bell housing fits over happy enough
@IL send me a pic of his fitting over weeks ago but sure 😂
IMG_20200109_205143.jpg

This gave me my final measurements for thrust clearance etc

Trip to OD Tomorro to have it machined to 95mm then its welded and set in the hole

Cheers

This looks good, really love the idea of cutting and welding boxes, sort of wish I had done my own this was for the extra clearance.

Cheers sham, only issue is time fs, not quick enough, waiting on flywheel waiting on clutch waiting on machining then welding

Only think I'm winging is the diamiter of the two surfaces I'm left with hope there close on size to weld 😂

@JH86 full time wing merchant.

I had expected you had it all calculated on the exact cut location!

Volvo's!
One thought you may have over looked (or just not mentioned as its not important to mention if you've considered it) does the auto starter fit the manual flywheel? Or will a manual starter fit the auto bell housing?

it definitely fits the Bellhousing, and the auto flexplate & manual flywheel are the same diameter so would expect so.

Only position I can make the cut on the zf box dictated it all tbh all is exact prim and proper, well bar this one hope for the best situation 😂

The starter is located on the block anyway rather then the bell housing can't be moved unless to the lhd position, ideally a lhd engine setup would be easier 😂

But yes starter is fine as the flywheel is based of the oem version👍

Leaves a 5mm gap all the way round not ideal but again could be alooot worse, will end up a much stronger join 💪

Hopefully weld it on Monday, with working for the man 50hours a week and trying to start a business it's hard just to get a full day at it,

Can't wait to set it in the hole and make a subframe,

Sorted a pet hate of mine with these e46s, we I never a good friend did while I was out all day having a few beverages

The strut top brackets that hold the cabin filter housing and seal the engine bay off

In a bare bay they stick out like a sore thumb

As pictured here

With the abs removed and the loom/ will go on the other side of bulk head under passenger side of dash

Hope this bellhousing also welded this week choking to set it in the hole 👍

Had an hour to kill this evening, so gutted the car of all unneeded bits before the loom gets dissected

IMG_20200120_185237.jpg

IMG_20200120_193953.jpg

Engine loom connections pulled through to leave the ecu etc under the dash where the glove box once was

And yes I did pump the clutch when removing the carpets and obliterate the slave cylinder

Then fuel pumps swapped over, never having the misfortune of working or owning a 136 before I assumed it had no pump intank, I was delighted when i found out it was, quick Change over no hassles what so ever,

With the 136 having two fuel lines right to the bay was handy to when connecting the filter regulator

Fuel system done bar a relay and dash switch but that's for another day

Very impressive, what did you weld the gearbox with Tig? Cast alloy isn't an easy thing to weld!

Yea tig welded, in fairness the cast on both the auto and manual boxes was stunning, both dry before even starting was an absolute bonus

There was one piece about 2 inches long on the manual box that was absolute gash casting but in the grand scheme couldent be bad to that
