I’ve just had the inevitable problem of the door handle of my X5 giving up the ghost and, to make things more awkward, it’s the drivers door so it’s a right pain in the @rse!

I know it’s a common fault but is it a buy some internal part and fix job? Or just complete new handle?

TIA

Just the internals, they are mild steel so break in colder weather usually. It's an awkward job as you've to get screwdriver access in through the end of the door for part of the job. Once you've don't it 3 or 4 times it gets easier.

When mine went on the big Bus... it worked on the inside.... so I had a daisy chain of cable ties around the handle and opened it by tugging the end of it from the rear door open!!

I don’t recommend the cheap Chinese ones off eBay, they do they job, but a lot more faffing to fit.... and then when it freezes, they either lock closed.... or if you manage to open, then lock in open... and holding the door closed on a cold day becomes tiresome!!
