Picked this up on Monday night

2007 LCI 525d M Sport Auto Space Grey

I wanted something more economical and a bit more modern than the e38. I contemplated a f10 but I had to have an e60 first, absolutely love the look of Lci's and tbh they are so much car for the money. I wanted a red or white 535d but after a lot of faffing looking at stupid stuff that done half a mpg it got to the stage where my e38 insurance renewal was up and I wanted to renew the policy on a different car. So I was actually immobile for the 2 weeks it took to find this car. I broadened the search to an e60 that was auto, clean and 6 cylinder which is pretty rare these days.. most are felted and wrecked !

So far I'm loving it. Feels a bit strange going for the diesel nozzle at the filling station but I imagine I'll be visiting it a lot less often . It's a 3.0 6 cylinder so at least it sounds sweet

I'll post better photos once I get a chance to give it a good wash

Plans are to service it, including gearbox and diff. I'm not that keen on the interior. Feel a bit lost in the front seats because they are so wide. E38/E39 sport seats are a lot more narrow and fitting. So since its a daily and I will be spending a lot of time in it I'm on the look out for a m5 interior for it
Usually I'm the first person to advise on putting in LED angel eyes to any new bm owner, but I actually like the OEM yellow look along with the orange iconic e60 eyebrows. Not making any promises though, no doubt they'll be ripped out and replaced by ridiculously bright LED's, but for now I'm leaving them.
Id like to do something with the dip beam light output. They are halogens and a bit crap, so I'll either fit an HID kit or LED kit with a white output and not chav blue

Overall its surprisingly clean. It has a few stone chips at the front which I think is worth getting sorted since the rest of the car is in such good shape

Thanks for looking

Nice! I also like the OEM "yellow" rings - seems to be more pleasant to look at. How does it compare with your e38? We have an e39 and it just amazes me how comfortable it still is to drive after 19 years!

Thanks! The e38 is a lot more comfortable and nicer to drive.. it’s also better spec’d. But thats expected from a 7 series. The e60 is great though and compared to my 540 it’s a bit less comfy but then the e39 has 18s and the e60 has 19s. I drove the 740 with 21s for a summer and it still felt sublime lol
It’s refreshing to sit in something totally different. E38 and e39s have very similar interiors which until now is all I’ve been used to

This popped up in my sc memories today. 2 years ago

Looks a lovely colour. It's your daily, just leave it alone lol.

I have one basically the same only in Imola, I think it's the first car I've had that I haven't bothered changing anything on it. Maybe I'm just growing out of it!

Nice looking car Steve, health to enjoy.

Is the wiring all there in these for M5 seats?

Thanks guys
@colin84 have you a thread on it? I couldn’t find an imola one anywhere. Love the colour

@cauld1 been looking through some forums and it seems the wiring is there but you have to do some coding to get the active bolsters working

I can’t see me doing it for a while. Other cars need attention

Anything
Grey E60 on spiders is still a great looking car, if I can find the right one when I'm needing to change I could end up going for one.

I do feel your pain regarding more modern interiors.

The e30 m3 and sport interiors were something else, proper snug and the leather quality/craftsmanship is just something you don’t get on modern BMW’s.

That looks a good clean example

Never had the pleasure of sitting in one. E34 m5 interior is an all time favourite for me

Interesting that you say a 740 on 21s still feels smooth :grinning: I am becoming seriously addicted to old BMWs at the moment

I also feel like I am becoming a complete old f@rt because I can't get new car interiors. I feel so much happier sitting in my e46 and my mrs's e39. Only a few buttons, all in a logical place and the subtle clocks in the background, only becoming obvious when you look down onto them. My Civic has around 4 dash buttons, two sliders and 1 rotary switch and there are no sound emitting devices from it at all! If you run out of petrol, lose oil pressure, or don't wear your seatbelt, its all down to your free will and the Civic doesn't give a cent

But the common denominator is me and perhaps I have finally reached that age where technology has overtaken my ability to keep up with it

I do love how old BMWs seem to be designed for my old a$$ as well

If my e46 didn't rust and didn't have wheel sensors I'd have kept it forever!

@michelinman I’m finding it difficult adjusting to the new interior haha I miss the old school stuff. This car is 07 imagine if we sat in a new bm we wouldn’t know what to do

Gave it a quick wash and took some better photos
Excuse the ///M badge on the back I haven’t ripped it off yet
I’m thinking spacers would set it off better. I won’t be lowering it

I have a 525D 07 LCI myself, exactly the same colour, just touched 175k and hasn't gave me a minutes issue in 2 years, fantastic cars. Yours looks great on the Spiders too.

Decided to clay the car today. So washed it, clay’d it then washed it again. Was going to wax it but I think the standard thing to do is polish after claying and then wax. Currently have no polish so I’ll get some ordered (which is best for hand polish?) and give it a coat of wax
Thought about getting a DA and going all out but I’ll wait until the front gets painted so I’ll do the whole car and be done. But who knows how long lockdown will last for so until then I want some beading!

The clay looks to have done wonders for it so far 😎

polish wise I use either auto finesse triple or auto glym super resin, and then a coat of navi wax usually gives good results for me

Thanks. Found some Meguiars polish I forgot I had and used it this evening. Definitely added to the shine. I’ll wax it tomorrow and then wait on it raining for some beads

Polished and waxed
Photos I took yesterday nearly look better but I’m bored so I may as well upload post wax ones
Used some old school rain dance
Spent nearly 5 hours on the car, so I’m hoping for some rain now to see beading
