Myself and 3 or 4 neighbours have Just been issued a solicitors letter from forward facing neighbours, the easment was settled in court 17yrs ago. I bought the house 8 yrs ago and my solicitor (who works in the solicitors who signed as witness did not inform me of this even after i asked outright about the lane at front of house) he informed me it was a private road just a way through lane and no one had any rights to it.
i then re-mortgaged last year to add wife to ownership same solicitor asked him the same question after the forward facing neighbour had informed me he had rights to park at my door and i wasnt. Still was not made aware of easement infact we have been waiting 4 or 5 months for answers. Until no i recieved this letter. My annoyance is not that he parks there but has a vauxhall calibra left at my door rotting away and ive just been informed now i have no vehicular access to my front.
What to do now? Will be getting onto my solicitor on monday but dont trust him now

Burn the Caibra.
You'd probably be best looking for a solicitor who specialises in this. Get your neighbours together, who received the letters and go with one solicitor as a unit.
Should keep any costs down if they represent all of you together and split any bills.
Alternatively.......if you have legal expenses on your house insurance, you could use that.

Need to make a complaint to the solicitor in question first of all. After that then move to The Law Society depending on the outcome (y)

Making a Complaint
My problem being ive been in here 8years actually tried to sell it last year and the front lane parking (i.e calibre lying rotting at front door) was what put people off was feedback we had got. and if had of known of this easement i would not of purchased the house myself. thank you for the link @DaddyC we will definately be making a complaint and seeking legal advice elsewhere aswell.

Does a car parked on any road with public access not need tax an mot?

Also if it's been lying there on private property and is rotting away the council would make him remove it especially if it hasn't had the fluids etc drained. My cousin kept scrap lorries at his house and the council made him remove them all after a complaint of that nature.

I could ‘cold call’ as such and try to get it away scrap, few pictures of old Vauxhall’s will bring him round and he will hopefully be hoodwinked enough to let me take it? Worth a shot....
He had a manta lay there before this and had all sorts of offers for it, wouldnt let it go until the roof etc actually had holes in it, im convinced he keeps them to claim his land which he has the easement on, @JayT the land is privately owned but cant find an answer as to who owns it lol, we have had council out eyc they said they cant touch it

Yeah that would be about right around 6yrs ago he got the manta lifted and left that, i dont think they own the land altho their family own 3 of the houses facing us on the lane. So bit of a nightmare. Called over and spoke to me 2 nights ago about putting cameras up on his property as his vectra had got scratched and tyre valve was loose on seperate occasions. I told him aye go ahead thats no bother makes the lane a bit safer. Next day get the easement letter and that we have been intimidating and threatening towards him lol im here 8 years spoke to him a few times but only ever asked him politely to move the scrap cars from rotting at my door. Hes a geg like

I have someone living next door to be. The harasser accuses of harassment. It’s my option that they have taken it to the extent of damaging their partners car with the intention of telling their partner it was me. You would not believe the carry on. They damaged the car first (in several places) but were unable to pull their “mastermind” idea off. It seems never ending. There are a lot of professional victims out there.

As I read before life is too short to live next to these types. I’ve been looking to move now for quite a while.

I'd say he has convinced himself or been told by a solicitor that he should be paid for access by everyone else on the lane. People don't behave like this for the craic. Whether he is right or not is a matter that will probably have to be settled by the courts in the end. I'd get yourself down to the land registry office and get copies of all the folio documents that have boundaries with the lane and that might help you understand the legal ownership of the lane. Any solicitor you engage will need these anyway so it will do no harm to have them and hand them over when you are explaining 'the situation' to them.

If the cars are rotting, waste...scrap...maybe even breaking.

Report him for operating a salvage business and he is breaking/selling parts, and he has no appropriate license to be doing this...and no doubt isnt paying appropriate business rates.

How about playing his own game ?
Get a solicitors letter sent to him for intimidation, harassment, invasion of privacy with his cameras and anything else you can think of.
He sounds like he thinks he's Lord of the Manor.
