All Wilsons liquidation or large plant auctions are £500 refundable deposit for a bidders card. It does help keep the messers out.

The guy is minted, maybe he's got better things to do with his time than haggle over a fiver? Or maybe he doesn't subscribe to the common belief that there MUST be a discount on everything that he has a price on. I think any guy in business has the right to run it the way he chooses, Eddie obviously didn't do too badly by doing it his way!

Everyone knows he does business that way, if you didn't like it then you went elsewhere. Even after all these years we are still talking about his business methods, so no-one can say that people should be surprised when he does things like that!

Yeah its his choice but its still a strange way of doing business....if i don't get my asking price ill just ruin the stock? so if your selling a car and you don't get full asking price you take a hammer to it and wreck the car, each to their own.

Look how many times that story was told. He maybe only had to do it once or twice to get the message around...

@Burt2000 I've never had any dealings with the guy, not for any particular reason, only purely because i've never needed anything from him. Although from what i've heard about him over the years, it wouldn't put me off in the slightest TBH. I'd rather deal with someone who is straight talking, this is the price, take it or leave it with no messing. Rather than someone who faffs about umm-ing and aah-ing about prices, asking for offers, etc.

As others have said, he would say that whoever it was needed the parts more than he did. I'd imagine he walked away with a big smirk on his face as well, i know i would if i was him!

The splitter is probably off the car due to the roads up to his place...if youve ever been up that way youll know what I mean :grinning:

I'm driving his old works Legacy. Got it cheap through his liquidation auction, but now stands me more than a 1 owner 'good'un'.

Phoned him to see if he had a pitch arm for the Legacy, he tells me he does. Round trip to him and back and went to the 'main' yard. There was nothing there. He then got one of his workers to bring me over to his 'other yard' (bottom of a farm up the road) and there were loads of engines and right enough, found myself a pitch arm. Probably spent more in petrol money going there and back, but I needed the part.

Lots of guys going on about the window thing. You guys must not have spent too many hrs in a scrap yard !!! I can assure you that is common practice in several where I have personally witnessed the very same thing happen.

Better than that, I once 'observed' a young fella spend a good hr in a yard looking for left hand spare wheel for a Peugeot, only for him to return and comment that he could only find right hand side ones !!!!

No, im not joking either

Sell the ferrari and give the wife this ford heap to drive as a daily

some collector will buy it and no doubt let it sit in a garage and just talk about the great car they own. total waste

Its for this very reason, that low mileage cars of this era are still available. I commend them for it.

I love getting a good hoke round the place when I went ther and his prices were never thst shocking thst you had to haggle with him for example I got a mint leather steering wheel from an mr2 to go unto my coupe and it was £30 when everyone else wanted 70 also got a gsi nova interior for 70 minus the dash though lol. Also liked the fact that you got to take your own part off because many a time you would get it handed to you with clips broken off etc plus I seen the polish guys that worked to him take a gearbox out with a still saw lol
