Two jobs ticked off the list which I wanted to do for quite a while...one being getting the Speedlines aka summer wheels on and the other getting the arches cleaned, degreased and dressed.

Products used (all from Anachem); Articulate, Ultra Foam, Laser, Purge, Tarminator, Trim and Hybrid on the calipers.

I keep the arches as clean as I can as I hit them with Articulate and the pressure washer with each wash but the where still pretty grubby;

Sprayed with Articulate and allowed to dwell before using some Ultra Foam to help remove and loosen up some of the dirt;

Used a brush to agitate around the some areas;

I used a microfibre wash pad to thoroughly clean around the arches, then rinsed and hit with some Lazer. Rinsed again then used some Tarminator for good measure;

This is after a thorough rinse and dry;

I then used Trim to dress the arches. First application is sprayed directly onto the arches and left to dwell for a few minutes and then I removed the excess with a microfibre. I then got a second microfibre, sprayed Trim directly on the microfibre and applied. Finished;

All calipers and suspension components where also cleaned. I used all of the above on the calipers but also used Purge for good measure and then finished off with some Hybrid;

Some may see these as being a bit OTT with the car being a daily but it’s a rewarding job 😁.

Just the one photo with the Speedlines fitted, but I’m sure more will follow 🙄

Headed along to Jacobs Supercars meet at PMG yesterday. Decent morning weather wise and a nice turnout of cars made for an enjoyable few hours. Caught up with some old faces and nice to get a chat with you also @Gambit - hopefully see the Mk2 out at some point :grinning:.

Couple of photos from the morning, one from @stuartyvilla & one from @warren;

Little update to the interior.

The front matts where getting kind of grubby so have them a decent scrub last weekend. With them being rubber they are easy enough kept clean, just a little bit of agitation and some Anachem Solapower APC done the trick.

I also have had some other bits trimmed in alcantara. The previous owner had the steering wheel retrimmed so I wanted the handbrake handle, gaiter and gearstick gaiter trimmed to match. The Trophy R came with these bits as trimmed in alcantara as standard.

Im not 100% happy with the stitching on the handbrake lever cover so I will contact Royal Steering about this and have it put right all being well. Considering also having the armrest cover trimmed in alcantara now too.... 🤔

Oh and there is also the chance of an RS Tuning 20T hybrid turbo in the coming months. Always wanted to go down the hybrid route on my last Megane so will see how things go and that could be an option. Along with a decat and FMIC I would say 380/390bhp with similar torque would be achievable.

Nothing to report on the Cup-S, other than it is booked in for tints at Pentagon this Thursday. Hoping for a dry day on Saturday as my cousin is running a Cars and Coffee on Saturday morning @ Good Autos so would like to take a run along!

Anyway, I managed to get a lend of one of the new Megane Trophy 300. Has it from Thursday until first thing this morning. Absolutely fantastic car. All the initial reports on them are good but I wanted to try one out for myself! Car itself was equipped with a the manual gearbox (EDC is available), usual Trophy extras including bi-material front brake discs, upgraded turbo compared to the 280, active exhaust system, RS Monitor (though it hasn’t been activated yet on this car) and it also has the optional alcantara Recaro seats along with Bose sound system.

I put a good few hundred miles on it over the weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. Driving in comfort mode and it is very civilised, switch to Sport or Race and the exhaust valves open, throttle is much more responsive and it turns into a bit of a hooligan.

The four wheel steer is brilliant coupled with the LSD makes it a brilliant handling car! I know many people say the Golf R is the perfect all round car - in my opinion this is very very close! I guess the main problem for most is the Renault stigma...?

Interior wise it is a massive step up from the Megane 3 RS. The Recaro’s are extremely comfortable and more forgiving than the Recaro Sportster CS fitted in my Cup-S. The ambient lighting is a nice touch and the Bose sound system is brilliant. Although the 8” touch screen looks nice, it is a bit ‘fussy’ for me.

Such a head turner also, probably because there aren’t many Megane 4 on the road never mind the Renaultsport variant! Even in black it turned heads - would love to see people’s reactions to Liquid Yellow or Volcanic Orange!

Few photos below. The car is a mess, I did of course clean it when I got it home on Thursday but it didn’t stay that way as I just couldn’t drive the car enough! Lol...

I would have one tomorrow if I could but I would need to be able to keep my Cup-S also! Yes they are expensive outright but isn’t every performance hatch? The residual value compared to the Audi/Golf etc won’t be nearly as strong but I wouldn’t let that put me off what is a brilliant car.

Really really pleased to have got a drive in one!

The guy who owned my Cup-S took delivery of his Trophy in April. Probably a bit too early to ask him about selling it but I wouldn’t rule it out in future 🤭

Stunning in Liquid Yellow. Here it is after having full front end PPF applied @ NVN, London;

One of my neighbors had that car for a few days a while back. Noise out of it was wild! Fantastic thing

View attachment 238313

It’s the Renault Newtownabbey demo vehicle so I got it through work. Yeah I said the same to my other half about the noise! The exhaust when set to Race mode is complete ASBO lol. Though I started it in comfort mode this morning and even it was loud on cold start. I’m sure the neighbours won’t miss hearing it start up! It makes the Akrapovic on my Cup-S sounds very very tame...too tame 🤔

So I had been thinking about window tints on and off since I bought the car but it wasn’t really a priority but now I have the car sitting pretty much how I want it I decided to get in touch with Simon at Pentagon Glass-tech after hearing great reports and seeing his work first hand!

Simon is a gent. Really enthusiastic about his job, honest and just a real good guy. Left the car to him last Thursday and picked it up on Friday afternoon. I’m very happy with the work, he done a fantastic job. I went slightly darker than I had planned on the back windows. We opted for ‘Midnight’ on the three rear windows and a light smoke on the two fronts.

Next up for the car is a service. Renault recommend a two year/12,000 mile schedule on the Megane but I will have it serviced annually despite only doing around 5,000 miles per year 😊

Better to put some good oil in every year than that longlife ****.

5k per year - lol! I do that in a couple of weekends 😇

Never understand this whole 2 year service schedule. It doesn’t make sense to me as I’m pretty sure the early Meganes (with the same engine) are all on an annual schedule.

Haha we have over 30,000 on the other half’s car in just over two years but still a bit of catching up to do with you 🤣

There's quite a few people who don't even understand the 1 year or xxxxx miles (whichever is soonest) thing... And just think they can choose either, lol.

Do you think it's a keeper, or is the call of fresh-Trophy going to become irresistible? :laughing:. You'll not get a better mk3 than yours however!

Quite confusing, I would always have told customers to service annually but I guess it’s a cost thing for some...

Keeper for sure. The Trophy is too expensive for me, circa £35k in the spec I would want! They do look great, drive brilliantly and are much more refined than the Mk3 but there is just something about the Cup-S that made me look forward to getting back into it also 😁

Haha cheers @bill ! I’d say you’re in the majority with regards to hating Renault lol. I’ve owned Renaultsports constantly now for 8 years and with the exception of routine maintenance and refreshing the suspension they haven’t given me any trouble!

Assuming you owned a Laguna coupe like your avatar? They are a really good looking car 😎😊
