Hi everyone
I am new here. I’m really hoping someone can help because I’m feeling pretty upset about my car right now.
I have a Ford Focus ST, and I love it but currently we aren’t the best of friends lol. I’ll try and explain best I can
I noticed a knocking noise in the engine of my car to realise it was a loose air induction pipe. The day before I realised what the knocking was I was accelerating (not quickly), just away from junction and seen my ESP light on the dash come on, but I didn’t turn it off, quickly after I realised I had hardly any boost, so my car was now in limp mode. I tried pressing the ESP button but it didn’t do anything.
I searched up what the issue could be and found that it could be the MAF sensor, so I took it out and cleaned it with some contact spray and put it back, no difference. I kept the engine running and disconnected the MAF sensor to hear if there was a change in the engine note, which apparently means it’s the MAF sensor. I then thought the loose air induction pipe could also have made it break. I then had a look and tightened the jubilee clip where it seemed to be loose and it seemed to sort out the knocking noise. But the ESP system error still shower on the dash with the warning lights.
Believe it or not I am a delivery driver in my spare time and I use this car to do the deliveries lol! I have been driving it slowly whilst in limp mode but yesterday night it seemed to be drinking loads of petrol, much quicker than normal. But I didn’t really think much of it. But I put some more petrol in today and I could really notice how much it was drinking, i could also smell the petrol too.
Does anyone have any ideas? I want my car back to normal
