Ford Kuga 2015 - Sync 1.1 problem connecting iphone

trying to connect iPhone to Ford sync 1.1 to allow voice calls - when selecting phone comes up with 6 digit code to pair phone but when searching on iPhone with Bluetooth on doesn’t find Ford sync system - any ideas?
