Unintentionally won @rmg1 ’s Mondeo on eBay & reluctantly collected it tonight. Had subconsciously been on the hunt for a Mk3 Orion (think Mk5a escort shape) to play about with then Richard’s extremely rare yet cool yet understated Mk1 Mondeo saloon popped up.
There are only 5 left on the road & I would be surprised if any had the RS kit from factory like this one.

@rmg1 ’s thread over the past 4 years of ownership:

It’s an NI car, with me being the third owner.
The plan is to fit new arches & sills and put it back to standard bar the doubledin head unit. Will upload progress pics once work starts.
As collected tonight:

Are you still keen? Speak now before the seller notifies DVLA tomorrow ! I have a bathroom to do up lol

If I hadn't bought the BMW a few days after missing out on this I would have broke your arm off for it. Saloon and 4x4 is extremely rare.

Glad it's staying with a forum member though.

My range rover was about the same so thats not too bad at all.

At least you can sort it yourself

Finally got it home, treated it to new badges, door strip weather seals, indictor lenses etc. Cam cover to blast & paint yet. Crap pics, was up against weather & a progressive hangover.

Mondeo looks class mate, brilliant for wafting about in. Great turnaround on it!
Love the wee Seicento as well. Quite the fleet you have now!

Mk1 Mondeo's are brilliant, great to see it being saved.
Wee Sei's are class things, just don't hit anything in it, the wee shelf under the dash is a kneecap remover. 8-(
1242cc Gen 1 Punto engines fit. If we hadn't had the accident in ours, my plan was to build a bored out punto engine up, see if I could find a cam etc, fit a cage and seats and use it for targas. That plan got binned in a flash.

Yeah it needed saved even if it didn’t make any economical sense. Sits a bit high eh, might look into lowering springs.

Ah yes I read about the dash bar & the 1242cc swap & the essential cage. Just got another mate text me & he’s taking it tomorrow.

Have some good memories of a bloke I lodged with in Derby that had a 2.0 Ghia Mondeo hatch. It was so well spec'd, such a comfy barge.
