Gearbox question

Hi,
I've to replace my gearbox on my 2014 Skoda superb 170hp 2.0tdi. it's a stop start car, which makes that harder to find one.
I'm not bothered if the stop start works on the car so would a non stop start gearbox work just fine

No as the starter motor is different so will not fit.
Had a similar issue with a Leon a while ago.

Is the actual gearbox different or just the bell housing? It may not that be that big a job to strip the bell housing over?

Damn, I never even thought of the starter being different. More phone calls in the morning then

I blew a hole in the gear box and wrecked flywheel and clutch and all in between

Not sure we were able to get the right gearbox sorted from Traynors the next day thankfully.

Can you remember a rough price of what you paid. Judging by eBay anything from £250-£600 plus about £120 shipping.

Well I got 1 today. It was £360 for the correct gearbox
