Hi All,

Per subject, trying to source insurance quotes following an at fault claim which effected my no claims discount. My current provider will move my 6 years down to 3 (they take 2 years off but max is 5), but I understand each insurer has different approaches to how they recalculate your NCD.

I usually use comparison sites to shop around, however I'm not sure what to put as my NCD, as it might differ with each provider. Am I stuck ringing round each provider and explaining the situation? I'd hope that I could put in 6 years and then companies automatically apply their rule when providing the quotes, but I doubt that works.

I'm sure others have been in the same situation and curious how you approached.

TIA

Your proof of NCB will state the correct years, telling your next insurer anything other than this is going to raise a lot of questions, if not fraud related.
