Glasgow bus lane fine.

I recently visited Glasgow and have been sent a fine for using a bus lane. I was in a one way system and had intended to turn into a car park. The carpark had a height restriction though that my van exceeded. There was nowhere else to go other than following the bus lane due to the one way system. I made this point to the Glasgow council and they basically said it is my responsibility to ensure there are no height restrictions before starting my journey and I must pay the fine. The fine is ridiculous as it is basically a trap and the council must get a lot of money from it. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge pertaining to the requirement for me to check height restrictions before starting a journey?

Cheers Andy

@Andrew12321 it's always a drivers responsibility to ensure the vehicle they're driving is fit for the journey they are making. Having said that have you checked to see if the height restriction is notified anywhere else other than the car park entrance? The fact that you've appealed already and lost isn't a good sign to be honest.

Scottish law may well be very different to NI law however so it may be worth speaking to a local solicitor who specialises in traffic law. It may well be that paying the fine is the cheapest option though.
