An absolutely incredible day from start to finish.

First things first. My dad is in a wheelchair and uses the scooter the odd time. We took it as there was no way he'd push himself around. Goodwood have pulled out all the stops to look after blue badge holders.

We pulled into the carpark at 9.30am and were greeted by staff who directed us to badge holder parking. Once in, we unloaded the scooter and a member of staff approached and said " we will shuttle you to the main entrance "
Next thing a blue crew cab arrives, loads the scooter in the flatbed and takes us up. All throughout the day the setup was fantastic, the courtesy and general attitude of everyone there was brilliant.

The atmosphere was laid back yet brilliant.

My initial thoughts were this would be a rich persons playground, how wrong could i have been. People and families from all walks of life rubbing shoulders. It was magic.

The car stuff was insane, i'd say we saw about 60% at the most of what was there. We watched the hillclimb most of the time. The Pikes Peak Vw was just unbelievable and when we left Romain Dumas was in no1 spot with a 45 sec run. The Pikes Peak Rs200 was insane, the drifters put on an awesome show. But jet pack guy!!!!

That was plain nuts.

The best car thing iv'e been to bar none.

The 70 years of Porsche was fabulous, as was the Singer 911.

The Beast Of Turin was bonkers, the group B section was off the chart, the F1 category was on another level.

It was a non stop assault on the senses, tonnes of bikes, cars, stuff to see and do.

Highly recommend.

Romain Dumas won the shootout in the VW iDR Pikes Peak. Seriously impressive bit of kit.

It was a shame to see Liam Doran's RS200 ejecting its bodywork and spitting itself off the track, i love that car, seriously rapid machine.

One thing i forgot to mention, guess who's stand was the busiest all day?

Tesla.

They were flat out booking test drives by the minute, i even got asked if i wanted to test the P100D, to which i said i could never afford one, they didn't care, so have booked something for when Tesla come to Belfast on the 27th Sept ( i think )

Much as i love combustion engined vehicles, as a daily, this is absolutely the future, and if it becomes more affordable over the next 5-10 years, i'm in.

Seen Dumas had a bit of an off earlier in the day. He held it well.

Would have liked to see to the what sort of time the 919 was capable of but they didn't do a timed run.

I was there for the Saturday with a few friends. Absolutely incredible show. Literally the best motoring event on the planet in my opinion. So much to see and do, I'd say we only saw half of it as there is always something happening somewhere. The heat was intense though so we ended up taking a lot of breaks under the trees and drank a lot of water but even sitting down beside the track and just listening to the noises of the cars was amazing.

Definitely a must see for any motoring enthusiast.

I arrived back from all four days at Goodwood... I'll get some photos up ASAP.

It's such an epic event and it really is for Petrol Heads of all shapes and sizes.

Highlights were the locally built Audi S1 that I was under as a bare shell. Met Megnus Walker, Seamus from Singer, Alex from Car Throttle (really sound guy), Walter Rohl, Chris Harris...

I've been going for the past ~ ten years and it never really disappoints.

There is little point in me trying to list my favourite cars as there was just so many. Probably the 2x Mclaren F1s, such a tidy, neatly designed car.

Southampton is much easier to get to Goodwood and once you walk out of the terminal its 90 steps to the train!! One of their highlights!! Car hire also cheaper from there. I flew out on Friday night and luckily stayed at my sisters in the New Forest and drove in and out both days (45min drive). No hassle with traffic and all well organised. The experience is like nothing else and well make any NI car show afterwards just seem grim :worried:
