Scheme Update - CU30 (Tyres),CU80 (mobile phone) conviction

We have recently added an additional Underwriter to our range of Insurers available in Northern Ireland that is able to cover the CU30 and CU80 offences.

With the additional scheme being relatively new they want to begin by avoiding Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza type models until they have established some proven experience within Northern Ireland.

This scheme is in addition to the current schemes from our existing Underwriters that are already available via Greenlight within Northern Ireland and will help us to help more of you.

Kind regards

Tony

NB. This additional Insurer is tentatively covering Northern Ireland and whilst there are some restrictions until we have written a certain level of business with them (to give them a feel for Northern Irish business), but once this has been achieved the scheme will expand further.

That said, they are in addition to what we already have available so are a welcome addition to the Northern Irish range of schemes at Greenlight.

Sorry Dave,

200sx models are also excluded from their scheme, which seems to be a trend with all of our preferentially rated product providers.

This would effectively mean that they've all had about as bad a time as each other with that particular model.

We'll list within our main thread on here if we manage to source a company that covers something that we currently cannot, so if the situation changes we'll let everyone know.

Kind regards

Tony

The CU restriction was really quite frustrating, as this was restrictive. But we have found a semi-brave Underwriter that will accommodate this.

They went live August, but with them not having much exposure to covering policyholders within Northern Ireland the Insurer that covers CU offences is keeping away from Impreza/Evo models until they reach £100k premium on the books from us.

For all you Impreza/EVO owners out there with CU (defective parts/bald tyre/Mobile phone) offences - getting to £100k Shouldn't take too long.

Kind regards

Tony

NB. We can cover Impreza/Lancer EVO models for drivers without CU offences without a problem

Hi W9ngj,

There is an experience requirement for the M3, but we can cover the E46 M3 model providing that you have owned this vehicle (or a similar rear wheel drive high performance model) for at least the last 12 months.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Steve,

We had a consistently poor historic performance with the Skoda Fabia and Octavia VRS models over a period of 2 years, which led to our looking into the reasons for this in greater detail.

Having analysed the feedback from what VRS drivers advised as the circumstances for the respective incidents we discovered the incidents mainly consisted of hitting Third Party vehicles in the rear, or swerving to avoid an impact. Both were caused due to an inability to stop in time.

As a result of this we added a previous ownership requirement to see if this improved the situation, but regrettably after looking at this again 12 months later it had not improved results enough to warrant a continuance. Thus in order to avoid other models/clients having to subsidise the VRS losses we withdrew from quoting what to us was a consistent loss making model.

You'll find that in order to remain competitive we do exclude consistently loss making aspects of risks, which may range from a certain vehicle, to a driving conviction type, to a postcode area or other factor.

We overtly declare what we can and cannot cover to avoid people wasting their time, but the exclusions ensure that our schemes will be available to you for the long term.

Kind regards

Tony
