HID's, what is the current situation legally?

FYI the camaro went straight through Mallusk again today with no DIY washers in sight (and my front number plate was held on with electrical tape).

Actually putting bodged DIY washers in probably just draws their attention to it, it did on my first test when the tester asked did i have plans for a permanent solution. Haven't bothered the last two times and won't again unless forced to.

I'm gonna try it with my washers pushed back into the engine bay next MOT in January and then if they call me out on it, which according to a lot of posts here they won't, I can just quickly gaffa them into place.
