123k on the 172, 124k on the Rallye. Mileage doesn't put me off at all as long as they've been well maintained. The 106 will start on the first crank after sitting for a few weeks and the Clio has yet to even make a cough since I got it.

really well!
The grill. There's a reason to replace it :p Only messing the car looks great.

Miles isn't an issue at all for me. When going to look at a car you can generally get an idea of how its been kept after speaking with the owner. I'd rather a car with 150k that's had a good owner rather than a 50k miler with a gobsh*te for an owner.

I've been meaning to take the red and blue off it. Don't like the chrome surround on these though

Don't think mileage would ever put me off if the car is priced accordingly. I would always buy on condition.

My xm has 289k on it

One of my MK4 golfs is showing over 150k on the clocks and it's had more shaves than a porn stars pubes. It's done near twice that going by mileage recorded on mot history. I paid less than £1500 for it. I've spent around 1k on parts and servicing and it's been serving us very well for over 5 years.

My other MK4 has just over 110k on it and I hope and expect it to last for a long long time.

Age will kill them before the mileage does.

Is there a MK4 in the country which hasn’t had a shave? :joy:

I would have had a similar mind set too.

Then I started buying older cars and cars with more miles.

I guess the best example I have is an EP3 Civic I use for warping round Kirkistown. It's got over 120,000 miles.

IMHO if the car is sound and has appropriate history, use the stimga that a car blows up as soon as it hits 100,000 miles to get a good deal.

Also bare in mind there is little point in buying a low mileage car to put big miles on... your just losing money.

What happens them?
As a rule of thumb, car lives in England doing 20k a year happily then moves over to NI where a house wife gets her hand on it and periodically will kill DPF sensors and fill the DPF in about 4-6 months with their town/country road driving.

Most DPF's are full at 130k depending on driving style.

btw this is from my experience of VAG cars, BMW's seem dead on.

Exactly the reason why I’m wanting to get rid of my car, used to attend team meetings in Dublin a few times a month and now I don’t have to so just doing 2 miles to work and back. Not good for a diesel!

Anything
In modern cars anything over 90-100k is a time bomb as far as DPF filters go.

Most of your earnings are from cars approaching 100k :joy:

Nonsense, if these cars are used properly they will last.

Take the kids to school and go to Tesco daily all within a 5 mile radius under 30mph they'll crap themselves.

I don’t sell cars with anymore than 70k unless they are trade ins, for that very reason! I aim for 30-50k

I’ve see it happen regularly, been there got the t shirt

I think it really depends on the car and the engine. Bought a 207 1.4 16v with the old peugeot 16v engine in it with 100k on it the other day and didn't think twice about it, just put a belt on it however i wouldn't buy the same car with the new bmw/peugeot 16v engine with 100k on it. I've also owned boras and golfs with 170k+ on them and they have been great

I used to think over 100k was alot until i went over it.

then i though 170k was loads until i went past it.

Now i'm well over 200k miles don't bother me. But certain cars definetely show there miles less than others!
