does anyone have specific cover for cars when in a home garage ? Like in case a fire or theft ? Or do they just let there normal car insurance cover it ? Or does home insurance which also covers the garage play a part at all in contents of the garage ?

If you search for laid-up policies it should bring you some specific insurers.
Some of the mainstream ones cover it too but most of them need a phonecall for a quote as the online systems don’t really recognise the zero mile aspect of it.
I’m still in the process of changing, but for an agreed value car it’s closer to £180 for me for the year, which is less than half the price of just keeping the normal road insurance. Some companies do six month cover too.
