Honda Type S heater problem

Hi all, I have been having an issue with my Mk 8 Type S. I get no heat for ages even when the temp guage is showing normal. I had it flushed and new thermostat fitted but its still happening? I read it could be the heater matrix blocked or head gaskget worse case ! Im looking for a good Honda mechanic who maybe has seen the problem on these before . I once used a guy called Jonathan from Carrick and was wondering if anyone knows if he still does repairs from his house ? Thanks
