Machining Gel Coat

Me and @KeithRobinson are going to machine my Westfield this weekend and we’re wondering if there are any considerations when working on gel coat? Is there any need for different compound / pads compared with paint or any risk of marking it?

I know with the like of poorboys compound they state can be used on gel coats, etc i have a brave few ppl using these in boats etc.

A lot of boat guys recommend 3M fine compound/finishing compound - it's the one with light blue cap. But I've found gel coat to be very forgiving and you can use most car compounds. We machine polished the boat this year with AutoSmart compounds and it came up well.

maybe watch for heat on the panels just
