Anyone with a 5 door mk7 golf ever have issues with water in rear footwell
Seems to be a common issue with water coming from door through speaker.
VW looking a fortune to fix / replacing carpet etc.

Remove rear door cards, drill out rear speaker rivets, remove old foam type gasket with a blade and reseal with silicone sealant and rebuild. Common issue. Just make sure your boot/spare wheel well is dry and water isn’t running from the boot to the rear foot wells as the body vents behind the rear bumper leak badly at times too.

Common issue you would think should be a recall?

Check as well the rear bootlid - on the end there should be a hole with a rubber grommet - this is for the drain pipe from the boot handle which perishes over time and leaks into the spare wheel well. If goes unnoticed, it can fill up and over flow into rear foot well

Also check the rear vents behind the bumper, seals can go there

Recalls are mostly for safety related concerns. No rhyme or reason to service actions in VW. We have been replacing sticky/notchy handbrake cables on new Polos since they came out a couple of years ago, as of yet still no service bulletin (TPI) or service campaign to replace cables on the cars. Same with these water leaks, been doing them for years RE speakers and boot vents and no TPIs.
