So after finally selling my 2015 S3 S-tronic my work told me they needed me back soon so I had to get a car. Got fed up going to see cars that had been misdescribed, got sold just before I got there or much worse....... That's another story!

After my 2016 5dr Golf R DSG, 2015 3dr S3 S-tronic and 2018 RS3 I wanted something 5dr, auto and easier ran and under £20k, I did consider a Golf GTD........ Diesel 🙄

Went to Agnews to look at a 2016 GTI and a 2016 R. The R was rough as, cheap mismatched tyres and rusty bad brakes yet it had 23k 🤔

The GTI was immaculate, went well and had winter pack, Keyless start and nav. Bought it.

I actually don't think I'll do anything to it bar fit dsg paddle extensions as the tiny paddles are hard to reach at 9 and 3 on the wheel. It's getting 39mpg👍 and 50mpg is possible! It goes OK and wheel spin happens in low gears so it's a wee bit involving........an RS3 is really fast but I felt completely uninvolved, for me this is the fun in driving. A remap takes them to 300hp but I doubt I'll bother as it's OK power wise.......... I'm shocking myself tying that 😂

So far I really like this car. I really liked my Golf R and regret selling it but I think this it better with the options it has. I'll only miss 4wd if it snows!

With the right spec these are hard to beat as a package. Wouldn’t swap my own GTI for any other hatch.

Enjoy 😊

Lol... that’s my old GTI. Great car you got.
Haha........ Its a really good car. My OCD is annoyed that there's Eagle F1's on the back and Pirelli P7's on the front but hey ho...... both are nearly new so I'll need therapy 😂

What did you buy?
That looks great, I prefer a GTi over the R etc
So do I now, better to drive, easier ran and nicer interior. It's just slower but it does not feel much slower due to the more involving drive.

Sold to WBAC yesterday! Doesn't seem right but really easy and around what I'd have gotten for a private but with no haggling, inspections, time wasters and waiting.

A great car......better than a Golf R imo.

Sitting at WBAC as I walked away 😞

What isn’t?!
Really hard to say where prices are going to go........... obviously they're currently way up but I've heard conflicting reports of new cars in very short supply with no change in sight and used cars starting to come though more readily so who knows.

did they try and knock much off you
They don't try.......they do, it's take it or leave it. The guy knocked 200 off for 5 stone chips on the front and a 5p sized bit of corrosion on a back wheel. I expected more tbh.

It's an offer online, then they inspect the car and knock money off the offer but they classed my car as grade 2. Grade 1 is perfect.

I'd rather get a decent price from wbac than a buyer standing inspecting my car for an hour, running it down and then offer me near trade money for it so I see the attraction of using them.

The last car I sold privately had to go for a half day inspection at a specialist only to find little wrong with it. Wbac takes 20mins

My 2 year old Lotus has a 2mm chip on it and I'd be very impressed if anyone could find it...... otherwise it's as new

They tried to knock money off my previous car (Fieata ST) but only after telling me it was the cleanest one they had seen. I said they could at least honour their initial offer, knocked £50 off it in the end.
