like im late
quite simply beautiful.

I love the cabs, they look brilliant with the hard top, and as @big_pete says, during the summer you'll be able to enjoy the S54 for all its glory

Looking forward to a wee blast out some day

It looked a bit more presentable after a wash....

So that brings us up to date with the story so far....

I was off yesterday afternoon, took 3 car-loads of crap out of the garage & up to the dump. The sun came out for an hour in the afternoon, so i persuaded Mrs M to roll the sleeves up and help me lift the Hard top off, just to make sure there was actually an intact hood underneath.

Its there, its as ugly as sin when up, needs a really good Shampoo & treatment, but its in good order and works as it should! 🙂

And of course, the obligatory 'at the Dealer gates pic' - has to be done! lol

One thing thats been annoying me, it that my Key Ring is all delaminated and tatty looking & id like to keep things original.

Does anyone on here have a contact for Wood BMW? I made Bavarian plates for the car, but I really should have fitted Wood ones instead.... :eyes:

Interesting, I’ve never seen a Wood BMW over here. I thought they were a mainland dealer only.

Any optional extras come with it?

I'm pretty sure you could tidy that up rightly as a wee project, avoid water based products though!

I have an XTrons E46 looky-likey sat-nav head unit currently on its way.
It was a cheap win on eBay. Some say it wont work with the HK audio, some say its plug n play. For all I gave for it, it'll hardly matter. I have the Aircon relocation frame at home waiting & hope to have it in some evening later this week.

I have one similar, looked great in the car but it was terrible to use. Reverted back to good old fashioned buttons after a few weeks

Yes, I have seen a few of the newer Xtron/Eonon/Chinese HU's that look like a big touch-screen tablet on the dash. Unless the car was a fairly modded one, I think they would be a step too far in a 20 yr old car.

This afternoon was fairly pleasant, so we got the Hard top back off and brought the hose out.
The hood was disgusting, it was covered in white fluffy seeds, had green growth growing at the rear and generally looked awful.

I gave it a good soak and plenty of Multi purpose to soften the grime.

PXL_20230404_135702169.jpg . PXL_20230404_135752049.jpg

A good agitation with a soft brush pulled loads of crap out of it. Rinsed well and then back over with hot water & shampoo. I left that solution on and went and cut my grass.

A good rinse, a run with the wet vac and then left it to dry.

It's still not perfect, but much more presentable. It least it looks blue now!

I then gave it a quick coat of sealer.

All in all, a hateful job!! But I'm glad it's a bit better now 😆

That looks great - something I have never had to do but would have fear of creating leaks :joy:

Its something you do be conscious of at the time, but I was surprised at how well it stood up to the hosing and power-washing!
I think the worst I saw, was about 1 cm of condensation down the length of the front/rear window seal.

Car looks class. I have an E46 cab myself bought on a bit of a whim but I’d find it hard to part with now.

You can get a diffuser which fits across the back seats and virtually eliminates wind noise and buffeting. Makes it a 2 seater but it’s easily removed and folds flat into the boot. Will keep an eye out for you round the town!
