Got a 2019 E Golf with 4k on it to join the VW stable. Fantastic driving thing and feels much perkier than the figures suggest. Got a set of mats made for it and put blue over the chrome strips to liven it up a bit. Headed to the coast in it at the weekend and at normal driving speeds was indicating a range of over 150 miles so limits range anxiety somewhat. Winter and motorway driving would lower that quite a bit I imagine. Dealer in Cookstown is selling my Ampera if anyone wants a good hybrid - very rare car and was driving perfect. It was always my try it out car and after 2 years and 40k I was ready to take the full plunge into EV ownership.

Looks nice, htd. Is the dash like a normal Golf without a rev counter?

Yes, has a power/recharge meter and speedo. They have worked really hard (maybe too hard!) to make it look like a regular Golf. Even the battery level is like an old analogue fuel gauge. The Ampera was like a spaceship inside but this is more conventional. Some serious engineering though as the freewheeling capability in drive is awesome; I have never driven a car with so little friction, it slows down really slowly once you let your foot off the accelerator. You can also get the virtual cockpit similar to Audi instead of analogue instruments.

Have you had a chance to see how much it is to run Mark? Interested to hear the real every day cost to running one of these.

When I had the Volvo I was putting 250 -280 pounds in per month on petrol. With the Ampera my electric bill went up 40 pounds per month and I used about 10 pounds in petrol (hybrid) so 50 quid a month total for 18000 miles per year (and no tax!). This will probably work out around the same as I usually charge at night using economy 7 and it has a bigger battery.

I have put just over 2700miles on my e-golf, and as I don’t have a charger at home it’s cost £0.00 running costs so far.

And as public charging costs £0.00 at the moment it really has been fantastic!

if I was to change at home it would have cost me £156 at approx £0.18 per Kw. Approx £0.06 per

beats the M3 for commuting at £0.25 per mile
