Mot man said he hasn’t seen one as good on a very long time which was nice to hear. It was a great day for a drive in it too, so different from modern stuff.
@bigsigh I was behind u in the Toyota the other day at Rosetta that m2 is stunning, such road presence and sounds lovely. St least I think it was u SXI plate?
Not a big update really but I got my plate on that I bought of @Nicky Glanza, it finishes the car off and is perfect for it being #337/1000. Also treated to its yearly service up at AI with all fluids replaced including diff/gearbox, less than 1000 miles since the last one but sure it has to be kept right. It will be coming off the road for winter soon then getting a remap and wheel refurb next spring.
So I thought today was as good a day as any to take this off SORN and go for a drive. It certainly brought a smile to my face and the wee man was giggling away too.
I’ve a list of things to do with it over the next few months.
Paint for the fog light covers and bonnet scoop. A detail by big pete and then a remap.
I’ll be booking it in with you Pete for a detail. I was going to wait until I got the scoop and fog covers done but I suppose that won’t matter as they will get a polish at the painters anyway.
Forgot you had this Burt. I picked up a copy of Evo last week which has a collection of Group A inspired cars on the front cover, one of which is a version 1 Type RA. It hasn't done the classic Impreza itch any favours reading about it.
With the good weather the impreza is getting a bit of love. Been underneath stripping the clear wax off with tarminator and reapplying as it gets dusty due to being a bit sticky, glad to see it’s still as good as it was when I first applied it about 2 years ago.
I also took the rear bumper off and sent the bumper reinforcement bar off to be powder coated for protection as there is barely any paint on it, Again glad to see that in behind it and the rear arches is like the day it left the factory, inside the rear chassis legs the same, so it all got some protective clear wax treatment too.
The battery tray also got a coat of zinc paint, satin black and clear wax, the water from the bonnet vents tends to drip down in there and if left unattended can corrode over time. I’ve now rerouted the water away from the drain hole with some silicone piping.
As well as that I had a few bits painted by Matt Jenkins that were looking a little faded being plastic and also got the wheels refurbished by @polishingalloys, top work as always by Michael and a less than 24hr turnaround! Next on the list is a detail and ceramic coating by Pete next week then hopefully a remap once the current restrictions are lifted. A few pics as always
I was a bit nervous removing the bumper as I’ve seen these rear valance and where arches and bumper meet be badly rotted on imprezas, but she’s mint in there.
