Well been looking for a scooby for a little while now, was just on giving up as I was sick of looking at cars with engine issues or arches clean hanging out of them.
A quick stumble on gumtree and this gem was sourced been waiting a week to view and finally did so last night.
Previous owner was an older gentleman with a massive house in Aberdeenshire, he like myself had hassled his wife to let him have one, resulted in him buying it and funnily enough dropped oil pressure with him on the way home.
Was replaced with a Recon engine from Nippon auto spares along with a new clutch and a rebuilt box, he subsequently swapped out the interior for an STI interior but left everything standard.
So you know that feeling when you pull up at a fancy house where there is a brand new XFR and f type on the drive way a shed twice the size of your house and lit up like a Christmas tree and you instantly think your looking for a scooby in the wrong place surely the wrong house? Well was met by Matt the seller and escorted to his shed where the Subaru was sitting on his 4 post ramp awaiting my arrival, a conversation with him and the story of how the Subaru came about and how his wife is now badgering him to sell it as it just sits there. He was open and honest and said that he hadn't much interest as the not history states noisey engine when cold, I was apprehensive at this point dreaded bottom end? Piston slap? Well neither actually off all things the aux belt wasn't tensioned right resulting in a squeel.
So a deal was struck after a quick hoon around the Aberdeenshire country side and we were heading home,
Here's a few pics from the seller I'll grab some more tomorrow once it's been valeted.
No plans apart from to refurb the speedline wheels that came with it gold and enjoy it
