Well been looking for a scooby for a little while now, was just on giving up as I was sick of looking at cars with engine issues or arches clean hanging out of them.

A quick stumble on gumtree and this gem was sourced been waiting a week to view and finally did so last night.

Previous owner was an older gentleman with a massive house in Aberdeenshire, he like myself had hassled his wife to let him have one, resulted in him buying it and funnily enough dropped oil pressure with him on the way home.
Was replaced with a Recon engine from Nippon auto spares along with a new clutch and a rebuilt box, he subsequently swapped out the interior for an STI interior but left everything standard.

So you know that feeling when you pull up at a fancy house where there is a brand new XFR and f type on the drive way a shed twice the size of your house and lit up like a Christmas tree and you instantly think your looking for a scooby in the wrong place surely the wrong house? Well was met by Matt the seller and escorted to his shed where the Subaru was sitting on his 4 post ramp awaiting my arrival, a conversation with him and the story of how the Subaru came about and how his wife is now badgering him to sell it as it just sits there. He was open and honest and said that he hadn't much interest as the not history states noisey engine when cold, I was apprehensive at this point dreaded bottom end? Piston slap? Well neither actually off all things the aux belt wasn't tensioned right resulting in a squeel.

So a deal was struck after a quick hoon around the Aberdeenshire country side and we were heading home,

Here's a few pics from the seller I'll grab some more tomorrow once it's been valeted.

Great cars (y) I had an 04 model a few years ago. It was impossible to unstick on the the road!! Just be very wary of the dreaded tinrot. Mine had a couple of tiny worm-like marks on the roof, which I thought nothing of, the guy who bought it off me (another forum member) discovered the whole roof had actually rusted underneath the paint. Seat subframes were also showing signs of surface rust too. Keep that at bay and you'll have years of great motoring. The only thing that failed on mine was a coil pack.

always liked that front lip on the blobs!

should have plenty of fun in it over the winter months (y)
Cheers you wouldn't happen to know what front lip it is would you? This one's cracked hence wanting to chuck an STI front on but I'd rather keep what I have

Car looks great and turini's look a great job, the best looking wheel on a subaru (though I'm biased as I put them on mine too)

Cheers she's not perfect by any means, but wheels make or break a car so had to be perfect ;) just need to track down an STI front bumper now and I'll have all the bits I was wanting it to have

Car looks good. I'd lose those mudflaps also. Wheels and fog light covers would make it 10 times. Olly mc carron on fb should have anything you need.

I was just speaking to my dad about the mudflaps funnily as they've badly corroded the front wings and I personally ahte them so when the new wings go on they will be coming off, picking up a full STI front end including wings and bonnet tomorrow

So since I got the car it's been not been boosting 0.5 bar and been real jumpy when coming off the throttle, chucked a new boost solinoid in it today and still the same retraced all the vaccum lines and re did them, found the restrictor pill to be on the wrong side of the lines changed this and we have 1.0 bar of boost, totally different car now
