Does that just leave Merc putting the engine size on badges? Can't think of any other mainstream manufacturers doing it now.
No. E350 has been 3.0 for years.

Neighbour of mine got a new A6 there, I saw the 4.0 TDI badge on it and swooned. Then I got speaking to him and he told me it was a 2.0 TDI. So disappoint.

JLR have moved to actually putting the power on the badge and model spec ie P300 (300PS petrol), EV400 (400PS electric), D240 (240PS diesel)

For hybrids they follow they IC engine type in terms of badging

A250 is 2.0 now lol

As above Merc are as bad as the rest....

The 220d is a 2.0 and was never a 2.2. It used to be a 2.1 though. The 63 AMG cars have never been a 6.3 either. The A45 and A35 are both 2.0 litre and so it continues.

Ah well. Suppose 99% of stuff on the roads these days is a 1.x diesel anyway.

I read that the Audi naming change was to facilitate the integration of electric vehicles into the range which are obviously not dependent on an engine size.
