Thanks @svensktoppen 👍🏻

Yeah that's it, the house 1960s. The garage is hidden behind the house rather than in direct line with the house which I actually quite like. Means I have my own wee quiet space to wash my car without someone asking if I'll do theirs next! 😂

At least I've got a garage at all! Lots of houses for sale in the same area have no garages or the driveway isn't wide enough to get a car into the garage if it did have one. .. Its got a bit of width at least, thankfully! Will enjoy making it my own and turning it into a nice home for the Silvia. .. Now I can start saving/selling some organs to get the car a respray as the paint is shocking.

No real updates for the Silvia other than she got a lovely new house to live in. After renting for a long time, the other half and I finally have a house! Lots of space outside and most importantly it has a garage!

I worried when I bought the house that she wouldn't fit and I'd have to take a leaf from @ossy2004 and put a bit of an extension on, but she fits perfectly! Maybe a bit too perfectly but it'll do rightly!

It's got its own security alarm, hot and cold water and an outside tap. Me and my mate ripped out the cabinets and removed the worktop and sink. Unfortunately the washing machine has to go in there, so I'll probably fit a smaller peice of worktop and put in a smaller sink over to the right. Got a few quid aside to make it a bit of a project in the summer. Going to give it some paint and clean it up a bit!

Lots to do, looking forward to getting stuck in!

Paint those walls white and you'll be amazed at the difference it makes 👍🏻

Congrats on the house by the way 😎

Congrats on getting yourself in debt lol

Garage is a must for our type of cars IMO…. I didn’t even consider a house without when looking and it increased the value quite a bit at times, wife was trying to push me into other houses but it wasn’t for me lol

You always find a house that works perfectly but unfortunately it’s always a lot more than what you want to spend…. Cars included 😅

Congratulations. Always a big step getting your own place.

I would never have even considered buying a place without a garage or room to build one. I actually bought my house largely for the garage space.

Great that you now have a proper place to store this.

Same here, garage was the clincher. Pretty much the only house around here with a usable one. Most have none. The few that do have either been converted to a kitchen or something, or are too small.

That's class @TheDaniel ,fantastic to get a house of your own and a garage as well.

As with others, my first house search was based on either having a garage or space for one. In the end none of the garages were to my liking and we bought a place with space for one. Built a 28 x 19 cavity wall garage within a year of buying the house and funded it purely from overtime at the job I had back then (otherwise it wouldn't have happened lol) .
The best feeling to have a proper workshop space though and has always been a constant place of therapy / torture in my life too. Moved to another place and garage a long time ago but the importance of it cannot be underestimated if you like to tinker or even just want somewhere secure and dry to store it.

Pushed the car out of the garage today and jumped it off the wee Swift. Started first turn but could smell a bit of fuel. The pipe that goes into the fuel filter has slightly perished and needs changed. It was changed 2 years ago when the new fuel filter went in. It is supposed to be fuel grade pipe from a motor factors, but it hasn't lasted.

Can anyone recommend decent fuel grade hose at all that stands the test of time?

This is a good guide, seems there is a lot of crap out there and although this guy could waffle for years, he has done a lot of research based on his business of reviving old trevors.

That's atrocious. For something like that, which really matters, I'd go OEM if possible. Or something reputable like a Pirtek hose, they'll be able to advice something that will work. Stuff from motorfactors could be literally anything, no way of knowing. Might be fine, might be dangerous rubbish like the above. No way of knowing.

Got this today to tie me over, it already seems tougher and more rigid than the previous stuff... but yeah, braided would be preferable. Might take that advice @Ian A and see if they can sort me out and keep the rubber stuff for a rainy day.

Cheers!

I remember Richard Bradley do a Facebook post detailing the amount of cars he gets in with failed fuel hoses. Must be some real crap on the market.

I installed stainless braided covered rubber on the Escort. Only thing that scares me is you cant actually see the hose under the braid, so you dont know what condition its in

The braiding is just to help against rubbing. The hose underneath has its own re-enforcement to hold pressure, etc. At least if it's a proper fuel hose and not some cheap Chinese rubbish.

The braiding does nothing at all for anything actually functional. Other than a bit of protection against rubbing. And looking shiny 😇

Braid can give its own trouble as I found out at the side of the road years ago.
Braid oil cooler line had opened up and the sharp steel braid pierced the actual inner rubber causing a fair leak. Don’t let it run on anything or it will fray

Seen this for sale… the r33 gtr wheels look good on them, if I remember correctly you have a set in storage so I thought I’d share this with you 👀😅
View attachment 423805View attachment 423806

Yeah I have set in perfect condition. In my opinion they're the perfect wheels for the car. The problem is I need to do the 5 stud conversion and to get everything required, including coilovers to match, it'll be between 2-2.5k. If I had that kind of money I'd sooner put that towards paint as it needs it badly. But would be going 2 tone like the above though. Have the same rear spats and front lip to match so would look a lot like that one.👍🏻

My mate keeps telling me to start buying the stuff for the conversion now, bit by bit. At that I'm not 100% on everything I actually need and if it's wrong it'll be so long before I actually fit it, I'll be stuck with it. .. When the time comes I'll be at least buying BC coilovers. At least if I keep it 4 stud I can alternate between my 2 factory sets of wheels.

One step at a time.

It makes sense picking up bits as they come up and whenever you have a bit of cash. Especially if they are hard to find. Like you say, you won't know if you have everything until you try, but at least you have somewhere to start. Shouldn't be too hard do sell on anything left over? Might even be an "investment opportunity" 😇
