Mk1s are nice but I think the MK2 really perfect that shape/design. Great spec above though

Many many years ago a mate and me used to rally a 2002 BMW. We used to lugg it around on a trailer using a Mk2 Escort Estate. he comical part was that the Escort was quicker than the BM because it was fitted with a Skip Brown full works BDA engine complete with a Quaff Box and LSD. We'd written of the Escort we rallied before the BM and thought it would be a bit of craic to do. Boy could that thing, "erm, tow".

lol thats the same with my mates tow car...its a rio brown 1982 mk5 cortina ghia, with a 2.1 pinto, 4 branch, ashley system and re jetted twin choke weber. it give mortys old rs2000 a hard time at aghadowey and only lost out by 0.11 secs up the strip!

now its used to tow his merc 380 sel 3.8 v8 track car and he maintains he could go round bishopscourt harder in the cortina than the merc:laughing:

I went to the Retro Show in Santa Pod this year with Cess & seen Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts putting in between 10-13 second 1/4 miles - impressive stuff - that car is on oldskoolford and can shift!

My favourite Mk1 HAS to be a Modena Green RS2000:

Thou I agree with Gaz, i'm biased towards the Mk2s

Mr Woodcutter - you have indeed spied the most perfect Escort ever created. I've my heart set on a 'proper' mk1 in a few years time :grinning: Just like the orange one, except i'd have a white one with blue stripes.
