Volvo's!
When points came out they used to be issued for it, now as far as I'm aware its a fine and after 3 fines you loose the plate

I got a fixed penalty (fine only) for illegal sizing and spacing. As above, three times and you lose the plate.

Whats the legalities with spacing?

Some sites say even spacing throughout is fine, others say it must be as it came. Example: A1 ABC vs A1ABC

From Gov website:

• characters must be 79mm tall
• characters (except the number 1 or letter I) must be 50mm wide
• the character stroke (the thickness of the black print) must be 14mm
• the space between characters must be 11mm
• the space between the age identifier and the random letters must be 33mm
• the margins at the top, bottom and side of the plate must be 11mm
• vertical space between the age identifier and the random letters must be 19mm.

I always thought it was even spacing too, until I learned otherwise at mot this year!

Would be £1000 fine, ban and car crushed if I got into power.
That’s a good starting point but I think the fine should be tiered starting with the above for non standard spacing working up to a maximum for some stupid undersized font trying to spell the owner name.

Bottom, side and edges need 11mm minimum of reflective plate too

I wonder if three warnings for not displaying a plate can end in the same result ie losing said plate, what would they do in an instance where the plate is a randomly generated NI "poverty spec" plate? 😂

Different for jap imports also.
