I had no intention of buying another car as I was very happy with the black vRS but this local example came up in Rally Red with a genuine 47k and I couldn’t refuse. My third vRS Mk1 in 9 months!

It was bought new in Howard Abrahams in Lurgan 15 years ago. I bought it of the second owner, an older gentleman who had 4 years who basically did not drive it.

I gave it a light detail today, replaced the centre boot badge and wheel centre caps.

I have it booked into have the rear spoiler ( common fading issue) and the front bumper redone due to a few kerb scrapes. Its also booked to go in for a full service including the oil pick up pipe.

Future plans are a wheel refurb and tidy things as I go along.

I have started on the interior and it has a brodit clip with a bury phone kit.

No idea how it works but Im going to remove it. Does anyone have an idea how they are wired? Have a separate module?

Very nice. Lovely in red. If your ever thinking of selling give me a shout. Always liked these.

I said I would never sell the black one, so who knows.

Got it back there from the mechanic after a full service. Always surprises me how much better a car runs after a service.

Debating now whether to do the timing belt or not, it was done at 36k but that was 10 years ago.

That looks smart!! Nice and fresh looking in the red!!

Think I'd be doing the belt and pump for peace of mind, ten years is a right while and generally I'd go by 5 years or the mileage interval

Just did the cav belts and pump which had only covered 5k but again that was almost 9 years ago they were changed... hadn't been used the past 4.5 years

Got the car back last week from the painter after getting the bumper redone but only got time today to clean it up.

I have fitted new genuine front indicators and bumper moulding. A new chrome grille surround and badges are now on my wish list.

Removed the phone cradle that was thankfully on a brodit kit and was bolted via the climate control unit. So all removed with no trim damage. Result.

I also fixed the cd changer with a quick blast of the air line. Was delighted to see I had an unused spare alloy in there too.

The car needs a proper buff especially the bonnet but all in good time.

I have a nice S3 Recaro interior here would look well in it :p

Looking well, red is the best colour in them although I may be a bit biased lol

Dont blame you at all. If it was my car I would leave it completely standard.

Original examples like this one dont come up often.

After long last I got the full grille set up for the Octavia. There was nothing wrong with the old set but it all looked tired and faded to me. All new and genuine and after a bit of eBay watching got it all for just under £100 quid.

New black slat section
New chrome surround
New Skoda emblem
New vRS logo

Had fitted a new genuine coolant sensor and got the engine light cleared today when it was getting checked for MOT. Also got new D bushings fitted on the ARB just for my own sanity I hate knocking noises.

Next up will be the wheel refurb in the next week or two.
