Today alone I've spotted a 406 coupe (parked close to a 106), Saab 9000 and a Renault 21. Was also behind a Ford Probe during the week.

Makes a nice change from all the 4x4/SUV/Crossover/MPV guff.
Silver 9000? 🤔

Ford Puma, saw a green one on the Portaferry Road recently and immediately thought I haven't seen one of them in ages. Were a cracking car, probably still are.

I was about to post about the lack of Puma's on the road now according to how many left less than 5k still about. Also mk4 & 5 Fiestas are getting very thin on the ground. As for mk3 I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road.

Absolutely everything over a certain age seems to have disappeared. That age seems to be about 15 years old or maybe even less. I take little interest in what I see on the road now. Sometimes it seems like every third car is either a crossover SUV type thing or an A4/5/6/7.

I don't think people give a damn about aging stuff anymore, cars or otherwise. It gets bucked out and replaced. People used to try to keep an older car on the road but those people have gone. Only when prices start escalating do folks suddenly show an interest.

I'm bad for this, though... unless it's a car I particularly like, I've a hard time remembering anything uncommon and mundane that I've seen. Have to rack the brains. Recently a few would be a Mazda MX-6 (haven't seen an MX-3 in years, hard to believe there even was a Xedos it's been so long), an MGF (not even the later TF), a Saab 9-3 (the original hatchback 3-door - not sure if these are uncommon yet), the first Lexus GS300, a Frontera 5-door, an EK Civic Coupé, a 4-door W124, a Carina E and the first PT Cruiser in yonks.

I'll swear that I haven't seen a Citroen XM in a decade. Peugeot 605 too. Don't think I've even seen an SW20 MR2 in a couple of years. Maybe there are a few dozen people out there with heaps of perpetually sorned ordinary old cars in sheds that never turn a wheel or maybe they really have all gone.

Seen a MK1 Passat the other week, cool looking wagon.

That's the second Passat, sister car of the Santana. First one came out around 1974 and looked quite like a big Mk. 1 Golf until they facelifted it.

One I left out:
I saw a Seat Inca van the other day. First of those in a good while.

Saw a MK2 Fiesta on Saturday. Couldn't grab a picture as I was driving. They used to be everywhere then all of a sudden by the late 90's they were gone.

Glanzas.

When I was in upper sixth there were loads of them around Lisburn etc. Saw one at the weekend and couldn't think of the last time I saw one at home. I'd say there are a good few tucked away but there was a time when it seemed like every r-plater had a glanza (most likely insured in a parent name and as a 1.3 starlet 😂).

Yes Will silver with black leather from memory. Il get a couple of pictures today if I’m by.

They’ll be like is200’s gs everyone of them has had the sh1t kicked out of it

Absolutely, they will all have had it tight I’m sure. But that hasn’t stopped people paying upwards of 20k for a corolla twincam, half them don’t even have the same body the chassis plate is meant to be on either now. Or mk2 escorts etc.
Guaranteed ep3 will be 10k for a sub 60k Mile car in a few years. Mental but I can see it.

I think a lot ended up written off as a result of that

Used to see a steady stream of them visiting me for stuff but that's died off to a trickle now. Still quite a few hidden away as project cars which is encouraging.

In fairness I do remember a lad I went to school with binned his into the bollards outside river island in Lisburn on the first or second day of owning it!

I had to scrap this back in March this year due to rot :worried: had lots of character and it was a complete tank. I miss it!

it was certainly one of the last in the country

Neighbour of mine has one of these. Looks in reasonable shape but it's just been sitting there for months, never driven.
